Might I also recommend highway 116, aka "The Devil's Triangle". The best stretch is the part between the state pen and the county line through Frozen Head state park. Newer, smooth grippy pavement, great turns, not much traffic. No t shirts or stickers.

Say... Ain't it a bit hard to look at your map when it's on the back like that?

I don't have a clue how my old post about trucks compares to my last post, and the point you're trying to make...

Trucks "interfere" with MC riders? Is that what you call it?

Do you not know it's pretty much IMPOSSIBLE for a truck to drive up there?

Have you ever driven a truck? And how do you know they're not just up there for the sport of driving that road?

Again, it is physically impossible for a truck to nav those roads...

But they're just interfering? WTF?

Right turn,

Left turn,

Yeah, that's exactly how all them viral video's and Justin Berber started out...

It's hype man. All about the hype. Hype up a crappy road, and ppl will ride it.

But like I said... Promote it all you want. When you can't get on it for squids, or cops on every curve,,,, never mind.

I generally hold my cards close to the vest, but you are correct. I have a group of friends that live in NC and ride the ultra-twisty back stuff at least once a week between them they probably ride 30-40K miles a YEAR on the roads. Yet in the last 3 years I have shown them new roads that they never new existed, that are now destination roads for them, and I live 1000 mikes away in Western NY!!

They are amazed and embarrassed that a Yankee, who rides there about a week a year, has found and shown them good roads, but glad I did. Google maps, as well as DeLorme atlas's and higher detailed regional state maps are how I spend most evenings on the road. Plus I am prone to do u-turns when I see an interesting piece of pavement and will wander around aimlessly looking for back road stuff.

Like you said, it is there for those that want to look. BUT, I prefer they do their own homework, and NOT copy mine..................., even in High school some people think that is being a prick, but my view is those who earn it, appreciate it more.

The hypocritical hillbilly is a good add, yes indeedy.

Anyway, my fiancee and I are heading down that way for a long week at the end of the month and not everyone is as unfriendly; we've been offered a cabin in the Smokey's and some good tips.

If anyone has any suggestions for good roads, good stops and good fun we're all ears. If you don't want to "out" your favorites PM's are good too.

It's not an act or trolling with you is it? You really don't get it?

Trucks "interfere" with MC riders? Is that what you call it?
Well some riders sure seem to think roads are their private playground.

Do you not know it's pretty much IMPOSSIBLE for a truck to drive up there?
Not impossible, just a challenge for the driver and an inconvenience for others. Unfortunately part of getting the goods where they are going sometimes.

Have you ever driven a truck? And how do you know they're not just up there for the sport of driving that road?
Yes, 20+ years. It costs about $2 a mile to operate a semi truck, I doubt many drivers are going out of their way for "sport".

Again, it is physically impossible for a truck to nav those roads...
Wrong, its the minute of inconvenience that is imposable for some to deal with.

But they're just interfering? WTF?
Recreation Vs. interstate commerce, yeah just interfering.
If you don't want trucks and other recreational riders to use "your" roads, you better be cool with being alone in your loincloth while hunting for nuts and berries.

The point he is trying to make is that trucks are dangerous on that road, or any other road like it. It is NOT physically possible for a semi pulling a 40ft (or longer) trailer to stay within their lane on the Dragon. It might be possible with a 32ft (and a short semi), but I would not count on it. I guess this guy just doesn't know how to drive his truck, according to you.

or this driver

I could agree with your statement about getting the goods where they need to go, if there were any businesses along the Dragon. There isn't anything between Deal's Gap Motorcycle Resort in NC and the 129 Motorcycle Pitstop in TN.

I respect the job that truck drivers have to do, and always do what I can to help them out when I am driving (holding traffic for lane change, giving room at intersections). When it comes to risking the health and safety of other drivers on the road because they see a "shortcut", that is where the change from professional driver to freaking idiot comes in.

How much money do ya think this guy saved?

Probably more than this driver
