Er, modern usage is definitely to have the sporran in the front. Back in the day I'm sure they wore them however they wanted if they had one at all...

Yeah, just the kilt.

I like his jacket, and the way he looks through a turn.

That's a reflection from the chrome - maybe the headlight bucket or head pipe.

I look at our kilted friend and all I can think of is one of those bare legs touching the hot engine

That'll leave a mark

I'm just doing some "catching up" on this thread, but I think there wasn't enough said about the comment above, relating to the fatal accident on the Cherohola Skyway. It's a shame how quickly the story devolved into more darkside-bashing.

Back in the Spring my girlfriend and I rode down to Hocking Hills, in Ohio. (Great riding there, by the way!) We had stopped at Old Man's Cave, and were walking some of the trails there, when a teenager fell from a ledge, 60 feet to the rocks below. I was one of the group that unsuccessfully tried to resuscitate him. A wonderful outing turned to tragedy. I still had mud and vomit stains on my jeans, from kneeling in the streambed doing chest compressions on this kid, as we rode back to the hotel. It was a very somber, quiet ride, and my mind was definitely not properly focused on the road ahead.

If I recall, someone mentioned that the rider in question had a wife with cancer. I'm sure after the carnage he witnessed firsthand, his only thought was how precious life really is; his mind was probably not on the road and he was likely in a hurry to get back to this most-cherished person in his life. I don't know what kind of tires he was using but I doubt that had much to do with the crash...

Orange paint mark on tree is from NCHP investigation showing where rider impacted the tree and then went off the bank.

This is the location on 143 where the fatality occurred. I always check down off the bank because one day I found a guy and his Ducati down there. Luckily he was not seriously hurt. The other day a lady on one of the new BMW sport bikes went off there and the bike was totaled but she was just bruised up a bit. It is a bad corner but marked in both directions with 25 MPH Curve Warning signs. Maybe I will put up a cross there.
RIP

I put a cross up today at the site. Tree on right has the orange paint put on by NCHP.

It is visible from down the road. Maybe that will slow the bikers down?

I walked the skid (from probably rear brake only) today marked by NCHP with orange paint and it was over 200 feet from the dot that marked the start of the skid to the tree with the orange paint (also put on by NCHP).
