So your buddy didn't end up over the line? I guess it goes to show that angles in pictures can be misleading. Thanks for chiming in and looks like fun

Keep in mind that you can't see the actual tire placement in relation to the yellow lines. It may look like he's over or going over, but he could be coming out of the curve that the GS is going into.

In a larger sense, I shouldn't confess this to all the obviously perfect riders in this thread, but I've misjudged corners, gone in hot, had to brake mid-turn, crossed the double-yellow, etc, a few times in my short riding career. Just Monday I went through a muddy curve on an FS road and before I could lay er down I was sitting on my butt in the mud, bike in front of me, my pannier ten yards behind me dug into the mud. It happens. Be thankful you survive and live to ride another day.

That being said, please show me more pictures of other people screwing up.

PSA: Braking in a turn is not bad...as long as you don't screw it up too much.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Maybe the guy on the Suzuki above was coming the other way ? Or a semi. ?

Last time I went through, there was a Big tour bus STOPPED in the road. I think he freaked out, and didn't know what to do.

Doesn't look like a rear wheel in the air to me. Nor does it look like he's braking especially hard - arms not locked, feet not swinging forward. He's also going very slowly.

He appears to be looking down so I'm gonna guess he's coming to a stop for some reason. Looks like there might be something on the ground by his front wheel.

The flicker rate of the LED tail lamp is imperceptible to the human eye, but in videos's frame rate, it looks like it's flashing and in high shutter speed still cameras, you can capture it when it looks like the light is off. I'm sure your tail light is fine, otherwise you would have had a LampF on your LCD display.

Or he could have one of them Harley Davidson brake light switches. I hear they are all the rage right now.

Looks to me like his eyes are looking directly at the camera. He definitely looks spooked by something but I wonder if it was the camera!

Also it looks to me like his rear wheel is in the air (or at least doesn't have any weight on it at all) - there's a shadow running underneath it so if there is contact with the ground the contact patch is tiny (especially compared to the rider behind him).

At first glance it looked like the rear wheel was off the pavement,,,, but after looking closer, the shadow of his left boot is making it appear that way.

In order to get that rear wheel off the ground on the GS one of 2 things need to be going on,,,

1. Extreme braking, as mentioned, his arms aren't locked, and the suspension isn't compressed or the front tire. Plus the front wheel turned at that angle would make that a pretty interesting situation.

2. A jump of some sort,,, the road surface doesn't show any signs of roughness.

Looks like a leaf by the front wheel to me.
