My take on it......Dogs and children take their cue from you how to react. If you're relaxed and happy, they'll be relaxed and happy (assuming all their needs are met and you're not running loud pipes).

My dog used to LOVE riding on the seat behind or on the tank off road. I used to take her out to the fields and scare up Jack Rabbits for her to chase on my DR.

Great fun, great dog..... didn't have the internet back then to tell me I was doing it wrong, either.

I do not want to be a downer here, but I personally do not like seeing pics of the people riding with their dogs on the bikes. To each is own, but the pets do not have a choice to take the risk or not...like we as humans do.

FWIW...I have two dogs and love them like kids. I would never want to put them in any kind of danger. Seeing my beloved pet in any kind of real pain or with an injury is not something I would want to see...especially being that I saw my dog get hit my a car when I was a kid. One of the worst memories I have from childhood.

I can't imagine taking my dog on my road bike!

I have a Yamaha 200 AG bike on the farm, and my sheep dog sits sideways across the seat when he is allowed, and I have to be real careful in the loose stuff, as his weight hanging out the sides really affects the handling!, and he moves around alot.
