Last I heard he was selling everything and packing it in. You may be right, he did live right around there.

I know this used to be a pretty standard sight up there in the late eighties, early nineties. Only difference being this guy has a high tech light. I remember a bunch of dudes used to zip tie/tape on flashlights, if they bothered at all.

This brings up the first failure:

Failure???

The Porsche had an automatic tranny

Actually, the Porsche PDK transmission is considered by some (knowledgeable) to be superior to a manual transmission. Hardly a failure, IMO.

I guess I'm not up on the latest in tranny developements. I'm more interested in 2 wheels than 4. It's still a failure since these guys spent hours just sitting there when they could have been driving. In another month or so this road will be too clogged with traffic to really be able to enjoy it. There were a number of cars out driving the road with one group of four that made several runs with Go Pro cameras mounted on them.

Most of the "auto-manual" transmissions are better than a "manual" today in many measured tests (shift faster, etc) and probably are better for tracks and racing (see F1) but I don't drive a stick to be faster, I drive one because I am more involved in the experience. So for that reason I also consider any sports car without a clutch pedal a fail. You are welcome to your opinion and certainly could probably careless about mine but I for one hate the trend towards killing off manual transmissions.

He rides. He is usually on a r1150 when I see him. Those plastics were thrashed at Roebling Road. So I doubt you saw that one.
