I met this guy the day after his crash. He was standing ( with crutches ) under the tree of shame asking if anyone had any zip ties so he could hang the mirror off his CBR125 on the tree. Of course, being a KLR owner I always have zip ties with me and gave him a couple. Other than the cast on his leg and crutches he seemed to be in pretty good shape and not really bummed out.

If you're ever in the area, come down to Firebird Raceway sometime. Zero noise restrictions. It's located on the reservation right outside Chandler. The indians that live on the rez don't live anywhere near it and they could give a shit less about what the City of Chandler thinks--not their land. ![]() I saw an AHRMA race out there once and a few of the racers were talking about how excited they were to be able to throw the baffle-less reverse cones on their bikes again. ![]() Most places it is more like you wear anything you want as long as it is exactly what they issue you.[/QUOTE]

Do you get along with anyone on ADV, or just post 15,000+ posts of arguing with people? I didn't post the pictures with intent of "I sure hope Dakez agrees!!" Feel free to disagree. But if anyone gets the trolling award.......

Just admit it. You can't stand it that he is wearing a HD jacket while riding something other so you call him a twat.
Perhaps you should leave off the nonsensical comments if you do not seek replies. I was not alone in thinking you had it exactly wrong.

Most accurate answer is "It's not up to the officer on the street". The decision about what he may or may not wear is above his pay grade, and frequently made by mangement that has no riding experience, or are too hide bound to consider newer options. Oregon's a bit ahead of the curve, but it's also a place where not having riding gear will severely limit how many days a year one can ride. Some departments around here allow winter and summer riding gear, waterproof or mesh depending. Some officers even wear it... But keep in mind most motor cops are traffic enforcement. As such, they sit for extended periods, then drag race to catch a victim. If it were me, I wouldn't want to sit in the sun on a 100 degree day, either. Remember they already have a bulletproof vest and uniform shirt, and every one I've seen wears gloves. I'd expect the average motor cop wears more gear than the average civilian rider. At least modular helmets are allowed; the officer that pushed hardest to get that through for Oregon was one of the last to get his- too late, he got hit by a drunk driver, wound up with a medical retirement and having multiple surgeries to put his face back together. |
