I believe the correct phrase here is "Pics or it didn't happen!"

I think..... in my case..... it wasn't a matter of lack of available gear so much as lack of wisdom.

Yeah, because he's not on duty, and he's on a cop bike, people will see him, right? I don't know what policy is, but practice around here is to wear as much gear as they're comfortable. This guy was on the way to work- I'm sure he's glad he was wearing the jacket instead of stuffing it in the luggage. Click photo for larger... Click for Story

$323.00 fine for almost killing someone. Cop was lucky to have lived. Many meeting up with a careless left hand turner aren't as fortunate.

BMW ABS malfunction?

I would like to know what the actual speed of the Motor was before/at impact.

Cop bike didn't have video?

Can you post a copy of the accident report?

Makes sense. And in a way, an LEO should set a good example for other riders by dressing appropriately. I remember the good ole days of jeans, sneakers and a T-shirt, but skin is too hard to grow these days...

When we did have motors the guys running them were the normal cruiser crowd. They actually wore MORE gear while on duty then off.

Why would you think that? ABS helps stop a vehicle but doesn't prevent all accidents from happening. I'd say either the cage or the cop blew through that intersection at speed. More than likely the cage as they are through the intersection.

What did this guy do wrong? P.S. I only watched the bit where he went off so i have no idea if he was acting all squidish beforehand but he seemed to be riding at a sane pace when he went off.

I watched the video yesterday, you could hear stuff scraping on the corners, my guess is that he levered his tyres off the road and lowsided, perhaps a little more "body English" would have saved him.

He was probably still doing at least twice the posted limit thru those corners. Little bikes can/have to carry a lot of corner speed.

Its a reducing radius turn, he either went in too fast or wasn't paying attention and started his turn-in or didn't weight the inside until too late. He didn't actually low-side, you can hear him dragging parts, run wide, and fall down only when the wheels left the pavement.

Shit happens.
