Pretty much.

Somebody way back decided that three wheeled machines fall under the "motorcycle" and (sometimes) kit car rules. So you can get away with a lot more using those rules then you ever would building anything else.


That's why a lot of the "green" upstart car companies like Aptera use a three wheel vehicle, it's cheaper.

I can see that changing one day. My view is that if the "sidecar" isn't removable, it's no longer a motorcycle.
