They are only forbidden on the NC side. No such thing on the Tennessee side. They can ride the Gap all day on the Tenn. side if they could turn around somewhere.

Those post service squad cars are awesome. You can get them for next to nothing, and many still have the interceptor chip and beefed suspension. As mentioned, super fun to rip around in, and amazing how much less often you get cut off in traffic.

My guess is that the Crown Vic with the Twisted Throttle sticker was used to trailer a bike down there--notice the trailer hitch. While one of them was riding the Dragon the other was driving the Crown Vic sag wagon. I used to have a plain CV that looked just like a plain wrapper police car and it was amazing how traffic parted like water ahead of you when you were in a hurry.

So why the hell don't they move when I'm driving the ambo with lights and siren? The oncoming lane parts like the Red Sea (which may be slightly related to straddling the yellow line), but the guy in front of me NEVER GETS IT.

I tell ya, some days...

Fixt... I've been in the backseat of the crown vic a few times to many, and there is plenty of room in the ones without the dividing wall

Went to the dragon at the end of March (sorry Beto, was gonna make a sign for you and Lemieux ). we were sitting at the restaurant on the NC side when a big ol guy on a HD came down the Dragon, leading a truck and trailer. it wasnt a semi, but it was fairly long, including the utility trailer. question is: do the TN popo provide some sort of wide vehicle escort on the NC side?

speaking of the TN police. the next day we went riding up the Foothills and the only cars passing us were unmarked, marked and police bikes. Heading to the Dragon. Given the length of the TN side, they had enough cops to line one side of the road to the NC state line. Some kind of share the ticket wealth going on with NC?

The tag on the trunk to the right of the left tail light says "INTERCEPTOR"

I have the exact same car. 2005 is the ONLY year Ford put the antenna on the left rear fender.
It's no joke...cop tires, rims, suspension, driveshaft, skid plate, kevlar trunk pack, intake system, transmission gearing &shift kit, rear end & gears , throttle body, computor maping, trunk release, electronic black out package, alternator....list goes on a little more.

They really are a fun car to drive.
