Palomar is fun. ...but like Deal's Gap, its had its share of squids, angry locals, bicyclists, and cops.

There're other roads in the area that are as fun or more fun, but they're farther out.

I've been three time and never even went on the dragon. There are so many great off road opportunities in that area.
