had a Lambretta SX200 w/ GP crank, big bore kit w/ short stroke rod (200cc), Boysen reed block, 32mm Mikuni flat slide, Suzuki rad valve, custom flowed expansion chamber, 6" Toomi tip, full chromoly tube frame, aluminum tank, TZ250 tail, YSR50 front, drilled front reverse pull disc, double wide rims, IRC summer race tires...and a few other mods. Roding scooters is a very addicting and expensive hobby, kinda like cocain.

But what did it ride like after that? It sounds fun, but was it?

A) topped out at 85-90mph, weighed 175lbs and on the buttdyno was pushing 25-30hp. ran on 10" x4" tires. twitchy on the freeway over 75mph, but would out handle damn near anything on the road, even one of todays bikes. the chassis was built by Go Fast Scooters in O.C. CA and won 2nd place in the '91 and '92 ASRA (american scooter racing association)

It sounds fun, but was it?
A) was a real bitch to keep running (being italian, race and fabbed). think of a highly modded race bike as a super model girlfriend. it's expensive, high maintenance, unreliable, bitchy and overly pampered. but it's makes your friends drool when you tell them how fun it is to ride.

There is an ad for a cheap '02 Zuma on Craigslist

I am going crazy thinking of all the money I could spend on that thing and never recoup!

I have about 1000 dollars into a nice small performance scooter. It started life as a Honda 1989 EliteE a single speed 25 mph scooter. Cost 400 in good running condition. After being totally bored with it, I bought a performance DIO engine Built into 86 cc with a big bore and stoker kit for 500 dollars and modified a Honda CR85 pipe to fit on it. I have had it to 55 mph so far. It handles better than I would expect. Can get air under the front tire at start.

Here are two very short youtube links before I really got it going.
My wife riding:

Me riding:

Here is a pic without the body on it.

It weighs 120 pounds without the two back panels and tail light.
Good luck at having something that pulls you nicely.

I think I may pull the trigger on this thing. I have to see how much I get paid this month and I may be able to whittle the guy down to $750 if I see something I don't like, but the more I think about it the more I like the idea of having a ring-ding in the garage again.

The bike has minor scratches, cracks, and dents which I'll call 'patina'.

1984 Honda 125cc Scooter, 2500 miles. Runs great but looks aren't important, right? This bike served as my commuter to work last year but this year I've only driven it twice so far. I took it to work today though. Last year I got 66MPG in my 70 or so trips to work in the summer. New battery in 2008. Other than the new battery, it hasn't needed anything at all to be a reliable commuter. The bike has minor scratches, cracks, and dents which I'll call 'patina'. I covered it with racing stickers. These will easily come off should you wish to remove them. Think of it as an 'art bike'. Starts and runs well. All lights and horn work. Tires in decent shape with no leaks. Engine is 2-stroke with oil injection (I'll give you the extra 1/2 a quart I have). Currently it has a full tank of premium gas. Bike was carefully stored for the winter and always started right up in the spring. I store the battery in my basement. Some plastic has cracked but I glued it back together with 2-part epoxy. It's missing the battery cover. I'm sorry. I have no idea what happened to it.

I bought a size Large new black Bell Bandito scooter helmet last year. http://www.bellhelmets.com/index.cfm...roduct_ID=7886 I'll sell that along with the scooter for $25.00. Includes carrying bag. This helmet is in perfect shape with no scratches, never been dropped, and always has been kept in the bag.

* Asking $1100.00 or Best Offer as of 9/15/09
* Cash only or $$ transfer at Wells Fargo Bank. No other forms of payment will be considered.
* Test drives are okay but a helmet is required.
* 125cc's means you need a motorcycle license or permit to ride.
* Easily will go 50+mph. I rarely took it over 30. It's never even seen a highway.
* We can go together to the DMV to transfer title.
* I will furnish a bill-of-sale to the buyer as well as the MN title.
* Registration good through 2010.
* This will make a great College bike.
* Kryptonite U-lock (not included) fits easily through the wheel and tire - super secure!
