Looking good Ray.

Pity your having grief with the headlights, they looked good in the pics.

Gee, how dated is this thread?
S'pose that happens once a project becomes 'finished'.

I ended up taking a photograph of the headlight and having that printed onto a pair of decals. They went onto a plastic disc that I fixed into the recesses. They looked very sad until I put the clear stone covers over them. Quite a few people have thought they were real headlights. I think the plastic covers just give them that reflective shine that happens with glass. Looks okay. I'm thinking some real headlights may just have to go in, one day.

That is the awesome-est Tiger!

It's almost better than mine!

Calling LeighSA!

Is there a write up? I'd love to read that, especially how the 2wd is set up?

The advantage of mine is, however, mine is in my garage. This one is only two dimensional, insofar as I am concerned.

Finished? Finished? What is this "finished" you speak of?

I didn't think it was possible to finish a sidecar project.

I did write 'finished', not finished.

I'm now contemplating pulling the aibox off & having a few small alterations done. I dare say I wont get much opportunity to ride it in the next month, so it's the perfect time. Must make a video of the air filter service and airbox removal. Post it onto the web so all the other T300 owners can weep!

Don't you have some job to go to?

Or are you already at work?

I couldn't find a write up.

Maybe it is like this:

What isn't clear is whether it's driving the sidecar wheel also. One may have to assume so, because that's an awful lot of work to allow the use of the same wheels.

I was searching for an electrical problem on mine. Kept getting flat batteries and I didn't believe it was the battery. So I tested the alternator - following instructions given by My Master.
Not the alternator

More instructions and I quickly discovered it was the controller for the heated grips. This would be the 3rd time the controller for the grips has given up in one way or another. And, I gotta say, I haven't used the heated grips that often.
More trouble than they are worth?

Anyway. Having solved that problem I did what any self respecting lunatic would do, I kept right on with the spanners!

Pulled the rear rack to pieces and made up a template for my Pelican case to go on. So now, before I do that I want to find a black case.

Changed the dust seal under the seat/lid of the box. Larger section seal but stuck in the recess that was made for it.

Pulled the airbox off. That took about 10 minutes but discovered a bit of a drama. One of the inlet manifold rubbers had folded over. I can only hope it was providing a seal for the carb. No dust evident around it, so there is hope.
I set the rubber into hot water a couple of times, trying to get the correct shape back. It almost worked.
Almost being the significant word.
On the phone tomorrow to get another one ordered. This time of year it may be longer to get one than normal.

New tyres shortly, too. TKC on the front, for a change.

Leigh and I have been toying with the idea of having a wide 17" rim laced to the standard rear hub. That will allow me to use a 150 / 17 TKC (do they make a 160?) or similar for when I know that I'm going into looser terrain, to give a bit of traction. The car tyre is just inadequate.

Next question to answer is how wide can I go with the rim, to flatten the profile of a bike tyre?
How much am I willing to spend on another wheel?

More things that make you go 'hhmmmm'

And the answer to whether I can get a TKC in 160? No. They make a 180/55 - what does that go on? Otherwise, the 150 is as big as it gets.

Well, for a start, that stuff you blokes call beer.

Seriously, the man that designed & constructed it isn't a drinker. He bought half a dozen cans of bourbon & coke - that should be his annual intake, only for very stressful situations, mind.

He happens to be visiting at this very moment and wants to know "Who's going to buy one for $1000?"
He said he'll give you some guidance regarding the requirements. Version 2 has yet to be built, and the only real alterations need to be in the join between the airbox body & the inlet chamber - just to get it to seal properly but still be able to be easily removed.
Leigh will get m back to you on this one. He's on a holiday trip at the moment.

Not sure if you have seen it Ray but the PD has a new home on the west coast.

I picked it up just before chrissie, got Alex to check it out for me. F@#k it rides nice !! just upgraded the brakes to dual discs on the front and getting an ali chair made up for it, I'll post up pics when it's done.

I'll have to contact Leigh to get some more info on it, the original owner was a bit vague about it.

Maybe a bit like passing on an old book. Good luck with it.

I changed over the front tyre to a TKC80 - what a difference in steering! Astoundingly different.

The old Avon had been on it for quite a number of years. Seemed like it would never wear out. First few feet with the TKC and I can immediately tell it turns much more easily. It's like riding a different bike it's so quick to turn. I suspect my wife wouldn't have any problems riding it.

Better get back to it. New rear tyre to go in this arvo. And throw a bit of paint at my small top box, plus mount the under top box support.

Never quite finished.

Trek gets some use, every now & then.
This is on the way back from a AdvRider get together.

It shows that Alec is getting to do a bit of hanging off the side. Not around town or on main roads however. Far too many finger waggers and nay sayers.

except I got wet socks.

Trek Too is progressing, in Adelaide. Quite a few alterations that I'm jealous of.
