GO Nathan, GO Dot! Naysayers, go away!

I have great respect for you and Dot. The logic and responsible thing is to stop and get Dot fixed up... But... I totally get your thinking nathan..

Ride on!!

I hope the shock of not being in the motion anymore is not too great when you get home!

Quick update.

This morning, amongst the 5am fog, we had a 'moment'. Call it Dorothy's first collapse if you will.

Cruising at 50kays she just shut down, no pre-warning, no nothing. I crusied in second for a few minutes and hoped like hell she'd at least get me a little bit closer to the next town 60 kays away. But I needn't have worried.

Twenty kays later we were back up to 50km/h with her soul slowly healing. There's no doubt that in the 'moment' she lost another slice from her pie but the Polish borders now 90kilometres in sight, and if we can make that, then well, flippin hell, we're in the EU!

PS. Had to giive a bent copper a pack of cigerettes today so he didn't develop his arguement for my absent 'green card'. He asked for money at first. I just held my mismatched gloves up, shivered in the wind and said 'does it look like I've got any?'
PS. It was a bit of a shambolic night. I was planning on camping but couldn't find a good spot so carried on. Then it rained and got dark, and with little grip left on the tyres (the front's the original, the rear's a heroic non-brand bought in East Timor now on it's 15,000 kilometre) I was all over the road. So we stopped behind a hedge, threw down the tent base and wrapped myself in it like a fajita. I was kinda dry when I woke up, but still oh so fucking cold. Brrrrr....

Bon bloody Jovi

Sat in Maccas, contempleting today's journey ahead and the speaker crackles, a tune fires up, I recognise it in an instance.

Livin On a Prayer. They couldn't have played a song more appropriate if they'd tried.

So thankyou Jon, thankyou MacDonalds, now we ride out of here with a new hope.

Godspeed to everyone.

'...Woooaaahhhhhh, we're half way there.... woooahhhh.... living on a prayer.....'

I feel like I'm hanging over a railing waiting for you to come around the last bend so we can cheer you over the finish line.
What does Dot's odometer say? How many K's?

Nate lad, I think the only right and proper thing to do is keep slogging away, Dot's a good girl, she'll do it. Then when you're at home, we need to see that you've done her proud, and fixed her up with a good make over. I'm shipping my 1958 BSA over to New Zealland soon, having a bit of a Bimble around both islands, and your yarn has got me whistle wet. Keep heading for Dover and if I can I'll be there to cheer you and Dot

I am sooooo on the edge of my seat after the last few posts:
- A live RR where we don't know how it's gonna end,
- A love, we readers have developped, for DOT (the bikes that it),
- A sense of companionship with you Nate,
- A real angst (like a father to his son) that you make it.

I know I'm melodramatic, but what un-expected turns your journey has brought to you and us?!

If you can/want, let us know about your arrival in Dover ASAP.

Saying that, those last KMs will require such faith in Dot. Go on DOT!!!!

PS: Good luck Nate with your DOT and the weather.
The UK summer was rubish and they are talking of an Indian Summer. You never know, they might get it right this time.

How much $ have we all paid for books and media that aren't half as well written and engaging as this epic journey? Best Ride Report since Homer's Odyssey (800 BC)! I am looking forward to your first book. Keep up the good work Nate, almost home.

You Da Man!

I've been following your crazy adventure from the very start of it.
it has been a fantastic trip report !

I presume you are passing via Belgium...
I'm keeping a very close eye on your trip report, because it would be great to see you and Dot flying over the Belgian roads with my one eyes !

Or if I can be on some kind of assistance.. just let me know.

go Dot .. GO !
good luck the 2 of you

I know the feeling Nate, when you have been on the road for so long and you are getting closer to home. Your stomach tightens and your heart screams "DONT STOP".

Good Luck and God's Speed!
