well I just found this - showed it to my fifteen year old and am wondering if ANYTHING will light his fire. But yours is well and truly lit. This is awesome, it makes me wish for the opportunity to be young and foolish all over again. Makes my 19 yrold's plans to do a month in Italy with a college opera program seem like a walk in the park. GO - GO - GO

mate, the postie bike will make it no worries, they are one of the toughest bikes on the planet.
And, apart from the insane traffic, Iran is one of the safest countries in the world to travel around... lovely people, amazing history, beautiful scenery. Don't let anyone talk you out of it, just make sure you get a visa sorted well in advance. Awesome trip, can't wait for more. |

AGGGhHHHHHHH, I've just written this big old email explaining why I'm on this trip and why my bollocks aren't as big as cocunuts as some of you predicted, I went to hit send, and I lost it all. Bugger.
Never mind, in a nutshell it just said I'm giving this trip everything and if it kills me then so be it. It's something I have to do, failiure is not an option and neither is surrender. Me and Dot will make it to the end, one way or another and we're hoping its completion will stop us feeling like soft-cocks like we do back in the real world. I also mentioned some pictures I have to upload. They were taken on a disposable Fuji (I dropped my SLR in the sea, broken, being fixed) as me and Dot rode the 850 kays from Pai to Bangkok in a bumb-numbingly long 25 hours. Okay, so that included a four hour tent up and sleep stop but nonetheless it's the biggest distance we've done in that time which, at 60km/h, makes you count every single minute. We were going to get the train but that was too expensive and with me needing to collect my passport from the Indian embassy and get it to the shipping agents offices to get that ball rolling we just thought we'd ride through much of the night and be there in the morning-ish. We wouldn't have done it in Indo but here the roads are really good and the drivers pretty decent so we left Pai at 1pm, made it to Chiang Mai at 5pm, slept by the road midnight to 4am somewhere on the way to Bangkok, then rode the rest of the way in the morning, sauntering in to the city in the middle of downpour at 2pm the following day. Then we had to race to the Indian embassy to pick the passport complete with visa up, then over to the Canon shop to collect my camera which, I'm totally grateful, they've fixed for free, despite it being water damage. Now I've just had a shower and heading off to bed. Knackered. So is Dot. She's got a strange vibration coming through the bars which i can't figure out. Anyway... While I was waiting for the pics to be developed I thought I'd upload this vid. Thanks for all the comments. They remind me how privilleged I am to be on this trip. nathanthepostman screwed with this post 05-11-2009 at 08:56 AM |

That sucks when you lose a post like you did I'm not sure if this is what happened to you but I know when I was doing a report if you go to long without activity(other than typing) it buggers up the post I found if you preview the post periodicly it keeps from knocking your post out Hope that helps and looking forward to more
You are brave and kinda funny for doing this on a moped but brave nonetheless. You're earning some bragging right there. Keep riding my friend.
I would like to buy you dinner when you reach New DElhi, India.
I'd say you already have enough bragging rights- keep going. Enjoy. When you look back on this it won't matter if none of the "plumbing" works anymore or your arse looks like a baboons or anything else. You will have done something really worth doing. After this everything will be easy, ordinary, but easy. GO WEST YOUNG MAN! |
