I have an 08 adv with 42,000km so far so good,Have not replaced any filters yet and still on original pump.I did run it down to fumes a few times and once ran it to bone dry and got to fill the two tanks with 20.5 liters of fuel .but this is not recommended.I would look at the possibility of a pre filter for back of beyond trips to take the load off the ktm fuel filter kit. However if the pump fails then I guess a spare pump carried is so far the only way to go. What about the possibility of installing a primer pump/aux pump in the right side tank ?, or a more robust alternative make of pump +/filter kit .At some stage in the future I would like to install a new pump and filter kit into a set of safari tanks together with a pre filter.Perhaps the Safari tank makers could get together with the profill australia guys and come up with a set for the 990.

No problems '07 closing in on 60,000 mi.
and an '08 over 15,000 mi.

I've had the pumps in and out of both bikes several times with one
set of fresh filters on the high mileage bike.

I have some success with cleaning the filters with injector cleaner.
The paper filter is holding up well.

If anyone has an old set of filters, I'd like to get them and soak them in carb cleaner for an extended period to see if they will fail.

Max

Filters plugged / replaced at 16.5k miles

Pump itself seems to have survived unscathed from this bout of plugged filters despite having to limp home a long distance...

Just hit 20K on a ride yesterday, no issues. I changed the filters at 17k and plan on doing that every 10k.

I am happy to report the 3.0 bar universal fuel pump is a good replacement.

Needs some tinkering to fit in the elastic adaptor at the bottom and some cutting around the connectors, but no need to cut too much. It works great at a cost around 60.
Cheers.
