Is this mini enough? My bike in the back sure makes my truck look small.

One of these just sold up the street from me for $7k.

You pricks in California see these every day, but I'm not lying when I say I haven't seen one around here in 25 years.

Sure you have. You just don't recognize it in its current form of brown iron oxide particles sprinkled over the ground.

I used to share a building with a guy who did race car chassis work and we had a few cool trucks come through.
There was a guy with a Plymouth Scamp who ran low 11's in the 1/4. Cool little front-wheel drive turbo 4-cylinder.
Looked a bit like this, but it wasn't slammed

There was also a guy with a neon yellow Mazda rotary pickup. That thing screamed. I had a Ranger with a modified Mustang SVO drivetrain, it was fast but took forever to spool up, and had no traction. The guy who owned the shop had a tubbed big-block rear engined S-10. It was a wheelie monster

work in progress. got rid of the hellwig spring helpers and added a belltech rear sway bar and belltech streetperformer shocks. still need the upgraded belltech front swaybar.

if i left it stock and took all the money i've spent on goofy bolt on shit
and made truck payments instead, i'd only have about $3k left to pay on it. payoff now- about $5500. I'm probably still right side up cause its only got 12k miles on the odo.

colorados have 2 pretty active message boards going which is nice. and shloads of people hot to trot on LS1 conversions. I'd be happy just upgrading to the 5 banger from the 4.

Holy crap my local dealer has 4 Colorado's cheapest one is $25,000. No way I'm spending that kind of money on a little truck.

I wouldn't be happy for $25k. this one was sitting on the dealer's lot for 7 months before i took it home. plain worktruck with an automatic. I thought the price was a mis-print so i called and asked: "you only want $9600 for a new truck?" "yup".

I really wanted a 5 speed but for some stupid reason the 5 speed was $12.8k or something more rediculous.

I used it for road side service for about 8500 miles untill gas hit $3.40 a gallon. a 2.9l 4 banger auto only gets about 22mpg. i think it was motrnoggin who said his colorado with a 3.5l 5 banger and a stick could get 25+mpg on the freeway. i could barely get that with my 2.2l stick S-10 5 years ago.

i had to have something a little better for the 25000 miles i did for my jobs/play time, so i bought a used toyota yaris to do the work and this truck became the tinkering cruiser and home depot runner.

Faults:

-roof leaks. the seam sealer at the colorado plant in baton rouge must have had a rough nite cause he missed one on the passenger side. rain can run down the drip rail on the roof, into the cab, down the 'a' pillar and into a big wiring junction connector in the passenger footwell kick panel. i should get it fixed under bumper to bumper warranty but i keep putting it off. i don't drive it in the rain. it will be one of those shocking surprises for the second owner- get him all pissed off when the computer frys and he'll swear he will only buy camrys and accords from that day forward .

-sometimes on cold start, it sounds like its cranking over on just one fuel injector until the other 3 wake up and go to work.

-worktrucks are loud- they have no soundproofing. LT's and LS's are much better. i have installed $300 worth of Dynamat and a rubber backed carpet.

-computers got the timing and transmission in boring mode. But many hotrod shops around here have the HPTuner software for adding a little advance to the timing and changing the shift points.

-ferocious wheel hop on hard launch. fixt with the belltech stuff mostly.

do i like it? yeah i guess so. i generally have low expectations though.
