I had been waiting to see the results of that ride. I Had heard about the slide but had not seen it yet. I talked to the Detroit Ranger station and they say that they are going to fix it some time.

It must be seen in person to get the scale of the slide, it is HUGE. Even if they get the roadbed cleared, the hillside above looks pretty unstable -- especially once the heavy rains hit. It will take a lot of tax dollars to get that fixed.

Here's another picture of the slide, standing where the road should have been, looking up the hill. You can get a little better idea the scope of the scale of it.

And I second the breakfast/ride at Detroit for a attempt at Ollololie Lake, but I'm leaving Friday for TEN yes 10 days off, at least seven of which are gonna be on my bike

Bummer as I luv riding that way to get to Detroit - Looking at your pix, I'd bet my wife's savings that they don't get that cleared up this year.

I hope it doesn't turn into another "Evans Creek Rd" where they just leave it because of the cost.

You can always ride to Detroit on the south side of Mill City via Monument Peak Road or Tom Rock Ridge Rd through Quarztville - which is actually a fun route too.

Dave

I’ll try and get up some better photos or a PDF file so you can copy this route. It is from a Dualsport event I and some of the members of the Oregon_DSR put together back in 2005

Seeing as this is 5 years old, some of the roads may or may not be passable anymore.

Or if you live in Salem, contact me and I’ll give you an original copy and you can just load it into a roll chart holder.

Hopefully in about 3 to 4 weeks I will be all caught up in my work and I’ll be able to join you guys for a ride.

Dave

Shit, heading out with family by 10am. We'll probably stop at Pleasant Hill Pizza (2fers) out of Eugene by noon (Hwy 58).
Golden Dragon, did you mean Lucky Fortune?
Have a great trip, hope to be in CO. in August.

Georgetown Lake Ride

Went to Georgetown Lake for a couple of days. Went on 84 to 12 and over Lolo Pass. Spent the night in Missoula. My butt was hurting after about 12 hours in the seat. Here's a picture from the Pintler Scenic Loop, looking South towards the Anaconda Range along Flint Creek.

Camped at Georgetown Lake with my brother, who forgot to bring a bike, along with some friends. They wasted...er spent their time fishing while I went riding. This is a picture from the ghost town of Granite, it's whats left of the main mine building.

Here's the placard...

Picture of the valley that Philipsburg sits in, great riding up to the spot. Hard packed dirt roads with rocks and ruts but no gravel. Miles of them up out of where this picture was taken from, spent about 3 hours here.

I took 38 from MT 1 towards Hamilton, paved twisty except for about twenty five miles in the middle, where it was gravel, found another waterfall so I had to take a picture. Skalkaho Falls west side of Skalkaho Pass.

Crossed over to Hamilton, south to Darby and then over towords Wisdom, yes I have found Wisdom in my old age. About 5 miles north of there, I was just about taken out by a Antelope bouncing over the road. Didn't get a shot of that. This one is southwest of Anaconda, looking at the Anaconda Range.

This Last one is from the second day, right before the Alien Invasion began...

Later that evening it started to storm bad, I was caught out in the rain, and blasted back to Missoula for the night, then over to Spokane the next day were I was redrenched. Then through some back ways to the Tri-Cities and down around Mt Hood. High speed dirt, High Speed Highways and some decent single track...fun
