But being from the northeast I dont know have a way of physically checking frame head for cracks or checking forks or case damage , ETC!!! Bike would be shipped to Ct. Is anybody close by that might be able to swing by and take a look and possibly a listen? Maybee an inmate here actually works there or is familiar with the shop? Or is it a place I would be better off passing by?
Any help would be appreciated greatly. PM me for details.
Thanks for your time guys. And boy would I love to ride up there in those mountains.
Hey Happy Seal, let's keep you happy.

I posted a reply in the thread you started about this;;;

Are you out of your mind?

If it is a brand new bike,,, fine. Maybe. If it is a used bike. Well I wouldn't buy a new bike from them. Two bikes in the family that came new from that place. Just don't do it. If they won't take care of the stuff they sell new to locals, think you are going to get a great long distance deal?

Really, unless you are running a cashiers check scam and are planning to hook them, don't buy a bike sight unseen and have it shipped clear across the continent. There can't be anything that rare sauce that you can't buy someplace local to you where you can touch it, feel it, and ride it before you buy.

This is a hard find bike, but if they have a rep then I wouldn't consider the sale. That is exactly why I reached out!

Oh by used I mean 290 miles.

I know some of you spend a fair bit of time near Detroit, so.....

I'm gonna ride from Hood River to about Sisters, the hard & dirty way this coming Wednesday,
on my way to the start of our group ride of the entire Route 5 (S to N) of the OBCDR Saturday morning.

I'm going to go through Detroit, South on dirt to FS11,
and find some dirt somehow, someway, to Sisters-ish by this Wednesday Night.

I got stuff figured out from here (Hood River) to FS11,
but, what's the best rides from FS11 South to Sisters?
Any help would be appreciated

Sorry you didn't get any responses AJ - I've not ventured into that area, hope you find what you're lookin' for.....

On another note, drove my jeep up from Niagra to Rocky Top on Mon 7/18 - road clear and snow free.

I do enjoy puttering in my jeep when there's no dust (I have the top off for the "summer"), but I notice that my overall pace when things get rough is way slower, plus much harder to dodge pot holes, and of course, no way to stand on the pegs when you can't dodge said pot holes, it does have 4 cup holders though

Wish I saw the route request earlier.
If you can find your way south from FR11 to Old Santiam Wagon Rd. (when Hwy 20, 22, and 126 all meet up), then you would be golden. Old Santiam Wagon Rd goes from there and heads ESE straight to Sisters... with some really good views too!

Got to see some beautiful country between Lyons and Scotts Mills on a recent overnight ride with a few of my cousins...
Did a nice loop starting in Salem, through Silver Creek Falls, down to Lyons through Equestrian Trails, East on Hwy22, out Little North Fork Rd, up and over the mountains (lots of exploring here!), and down through Scott's Mills, Silverton, and back into Salem... Some of the roads / trails got pretty small and a little technical, especially for being loaded down with camping gear. :) Gotta love this time of year in Oregon!

Solo Cascades loop

Did a little 285 mile solo day trip loop this weekend out of Oakridge..
Headed North up past Waldo lake, took USFS 514/600 into Little Cultus lake, always a GREAT road, looks like they had a bit of a fire since I last rode it 20 years ago..

Made a side trip to visit Taylor burn campground..

Continued into Cultus lake for a rest break & topped off with fuel. Cut over to Century drive & headed North, planning to motor across on USFS rd 370 into Three creeks lake & into Sisters --- but was stopped @ Todd lake by a gate with a sign posted "road closed due to snow" (on August 13th?). So... I slabbed it up Century drive past into Bend for a quick lunch @ Sonic & then back down hwy 97 to Sisters. Gassed up & took the scenic McKinzie pass hwy 242 down to 126, then turned off onto a suprisingly cool USFS rd 1993 - a long one lane (mostly, ... ok, well about half) paved logging access road that puts you out at Cougar reservoir, where I came across this...

The driver apparantly failed to heed the "loose gravel ahead" signs that were clearly posted...
From there I bombed down USFS rd 19 & back into Oakridge. A nice 10 hour ride. As an added bonus, the Brewer's union 180 brew pub in Oakridge was having a brewfest of sorts to cap off the day.

3 of us guys from Salem headed out yesterday evening and spent the night up on Monument Peak, above Mill City... The final trail getting up to the summit has really gotten nasty in the last few years. We woke up, broke camp, and spent a good chunk of today exploring our way back to civilization...

Wow - great trip reports and photos - thinkin' I recognize Rhody Lake and the lookout tower above it in the previous post. The 360' view from the tower is just amazing when the air is clean.
I'll bet Monument Peak is one of the higher elevations you can ride to in that neck of the woods.......

Perfect riding day 10/23/11

Really a nice day for a ride. Amazing fall colors, no dust, no rain, no people, perfect temperature. October has to be my favorite time to ride.
Salem to Olallie lake & back via as many backroads as possible.
