Ok, I'm resurrecting this thread from the Stygian depths to share some pics of my spur of the moment, use your vacation days or lose them trip to Nevada. I am having some trouble with Photobucket, so this may be a 2 part post....

Looking into California from near the Nevada border, Titus Canyon.

Titus Canyon proper...

Death Valley north of Furnace Creek...80 and sunny

Thats about it for now, will post more later, and reveal some of the shady details of my mission, given to me by my bro, to a brothel

Do tell.
Reminds me of a time long, long ago. Late one Sunday night, not quite 21 years old, very drunk & with $50 in hand I rang the bell to the gate of the Mustang ranch. ($50 went a LOT farther back then) - A good time was had & I somehow made it back to Reno before the sun was up.
To date this, a sign hanging on the gate stated ""No more Iranian students will be permitted on these premises until the hostages are released" - damn I'm old.

Oh yeah, warm places.

Edgy . . .

Thank you.

Even just the pictures are a warm balm to my sodden spirit. Winter break IS the time to head out on a trip. One must simply trip to the right place. Why has this not been obvious to me? Now, how to convince the wife?

"This is not the husband you're looking for."
"You won't miss your husband for another week."
"Move along."

PEACE!!

This is a "train" at Furnace Creek, once used at a nearby borax mine.

The bottle house in Rhyolite, a ghost town outside of Beatty...

And a video of Titus Canyon and a little bit of Death Valley...

There is a Rim Lock holding the piece of tire onto the Rim. I wonder how they put the fire out. You would have thunk the whole thing would have gone up in smoke.
