Hehe - yes, exactly the same rock, same spot. You can spot this road driving east on Hwy 22 thru Gates, specially if there's snow on it. Looks waaaay high up there :)

Just made my KTM 200 99% street legal, it already had a headlight, rear & brake light and a rear mirror, just needed turners and a horn (to toot at neighbors *grins*) The Tusk system was half the price of anything else I could find and is powered by it's own nicad battery - no need to splice in to the bike's wiring. I figure I might use the turners/horn once a month, so the little battery should be fine :) Oh and the clear plastic on the tail is an anti-scuff thing that Giant Loop sells along with it's excellent saddlebags. (ADV sticker pr0n too *grins*)
Now, all that being said, this bike really, REALLY sucks on the pavement, with the gearing and the rim locks, 45 mph is as fast as a rational person might wanna go, it's basically a dirtbike. Luckily for me, the small amount of pavement I ride just connects the fun....

Anyone near Salem doing a ride this weekend? I've got a new bike I'm looking to put some miles on if the carb re-build works out tonight.

Wish I had seen this thread sooner. I'm in Salem and was looking for an excuse to go ride. Instead I worked on two of my bikes and pretty much veg'd out. This coming weekend is looking like rain (grrr). The one after is 4th of July weekend... I'm going to ride OBDR Route 4.

I found some awesome gravel above Detroit and ended up coming out in Estacada.

It was a good first time out for the NIB 640. It was about 250 miles by the end of the day.

The only phone pic I took:

Anyone claim this KTM plastic, we found it way off the grid between Evans & Ogle Mtn north of Elkhorn. The mounting tabs are all busted off.........

Just checking the pulse

Thread is pretty stale. What's the snow situation in the Cascades?

Yup - thread is waay stale. Rode up around Monument Peak area 2/13. Peaked at 4,100 ft, no sign of snow anywhere !! Right now we can ride anywhere we'd normally go in the summer - weird !!

Did our first ride of the season to the coast . Didn't do any gravel but it sounds like we could have. Nice day Saturday. 200 plus miles.

Season? What is this season you speak of? Day long ride up into the snowpack on Jan. 19th out around Detroit lake area and then an awesome day of trail riding up north of Willamina in the Nestucca area on the 25th of Jan. I discovered a washed out road blocking the back way (via Silver Falls state park) to the Crooked finger OHV area on Friday. You ought to get out more often. And riding on pavement the whole time? How can you even call that a ride? I thought this was the Adventure rider forum? lol

Rode from Elkhorn past Opal Lake yesterday. Pretty much snow free with the exception of the road above Opal Lake - some frozen, icy snow in places. Once we got to the top it was snow free down the south side. We looked across to the road that goes by the Tumble Lake trail head - looks to be still snowed in....

Was out there two weeks ago before that last bit of snow and didn't see any from Elkhorn to Detroit. Crazy for this time of year.
