Turkey Trot DS Ride VI Sept 26, 27, 28

Turkey Trot VI
September 26, 27, 28, 2014

Well folks it’s that time of year again and we are going to offer up another Turkey Trot for your riding pleasure. New location this year but we will still be riding Black Water State Forrest so no special permits are required. Street legal bikes of course and full riding gear please.

We have the final OK for the location so get ready and pass the word.

Great New Location North of Baker FL
30.974648
-86.723334

All routes are on GPS and available through Email
POC: PM me with your email address for GPX files

Directions from Baker Fl
First - go to Baker Fl
Continue North on FL189 12.0 miles to CR180 turn Left (west)
Travel 6 Miles to sharp left (south) onto Looney Rd (dirt road will be marked) with ADV sign) go .8 miles to campsite on right.

Tent Camp area along stream and in the shade. All others please park in open field near tree line and away from tent area. Plenty of room for big rigs.
No hookups. Please haul out what you brought in.

There is a pavilion on site which we can use. Shaded and fans with limited power. Very clean bathrooms are available and they have a shower in each.

We will have a big TV running with vids and movies so bring a DVD if you have something you want to share. Big bonfire pit and area also available.

You don't want to miss this one. Florida riding at its best.

This is a NO FEE event.

Three separate “Tracks” will be give out to those who want them. There will be ride leaders - but you are encouraged to ride in small groups. Both the street ride and the Dual Sport ride will include lots of lakes and easy water crossings. No deep water! The “Dirt Bike Ride” will be a challenge. There we be several alternates for those who want the very worst. Nothing of course will be really difficult but it is designed to challenge all.

Saturdays rides will include gas stops and food at a great local place called Gators.

More info to come on exact start location and other particulars.
In the meantime here are a few shots of previous Trots

Stay tuned to this thread for more info

Once we establish a firm basecamp, I should be able to provide a street ride track and a Big Bike DS track with in the up coming week.

I need some input regarding which of the 3 days are planned for what type of riding. I could lead both, providing they don't conflict with the "fast, medium, slow burn" Dirt Ride, and I'm also assuming that aforementioned ride will be on Sat?? We can discuss tomorrow while checking possible camp site.

Would like to know who and how many would be available to participate on Friday am or pm as well as Sun am for the Street Ride or the Big Bike Dual Sport ride?? I've done preruns on both using a 1200 Multistrada with street tires. We'll need "Head Counts" to make appropriate plans........SO PLEASE POST UP if you can ride FRI am or pm or BOTH. Also if you want to ride on Sun am.

Trot Plans

Normally there is some type of short ride Friday afternoon. Dirt for sure, and maybe a good DS route. To a lake and back or something like that.

Saturday will be two rides with leaders. A dirt group and a DS group. Others are encouraged to ride in small groups. Its hard to lead large groups. Small groups are the key. Of course that means someone has to have and now how to use a GPS.

Sunday is about the same with short dirt and DS rides. I would not worry to much about street only. We can have an area map and they can do their own thing. But I would have a route for each day.

All routes should cross/intersect/meet so the groups and mingle. I think everyone would enjoy a stop at Gators. Its a little out of the way for the dirt bikes but everyone else should be fine with a little street. There is even a Russian Mig to see on the way over...

Gas maybe up in Wing or Baker. Will have to see on that one.

I will have to get with you guys on sending and receiving tracks... not a big deal. Make sure you all have BaseCamp loaded free from Garmin.

Gonna be a short fuse on this one.
