That price range could get you into used motorhomes that are based on class 8 trucks. I would put my trust in a Freightshaker or Peterbilt before I would get one of those. But I love the idea of the size. It seems like everyone wants a 40 footer anymore...and they dont fit everywhere.

Precisely my thoughts ... you might even get a new low-end diesel pusher for that price. I would expect the Winnie to be well built and well thought out simply because it's a Winnie and they have a good reputation. The downside is that weight/balance thing. The motorhomes that Winnie has sold on Volkswagen chassis were pretty brakeless and bordered on being overweight so I'd look at the loading of the Winnie product critically. The Ford product? Ew ... more so. Not familiar with that one.

I wouldn't want one but it's good to see the RV companies innovate (retrovate?).
Repowering and remodeling an older RV.... Now that would be cool. I've been watching ebay and seeing mid 2000 diesel pushers going for 65K... 65K OMG! I'm really jonesing for those front engine gas toyhauler RVs ![]()

Rolling brothel? Brothel on wheels POSTED BY DAVID PESCOVITZ, JUNE 25, 2008 2:20 PM | PERMALINK Seen here is the brothel bus, a whorehouse on wheels that was just busted in Miami Beach. The fare was $40 to board but I'd imagine a (ahem) ride costs extra. Seven people are now faced with felony charges. From WIOD: "(The bust) wasn't even planned," says Miami FBI spokesperson Judy Orihuela. "The agent and the detective were walking down Miami Beach and they were asked by these young ladies to join them on the bus..." "I have heard that the owners of this bus, they do travel around the country," adds Orihuela. "So they probably have shown up in other parts of the country."

![]() ![]() I'm on ActionMobil's mailing list and they sent out a nice brochure profiling their new vehicle on a Scania 6x6 chassis and sporting a BMW F-650 GS Dakar on a carrier at the rear. Alas, it's in some sort of odd .PDF format and I haven't been able to manipulate it to show it here. You can go to their web site and check out all their really interesting expedition vehicles however at http://www.actionmobil.com (Photo at the top is the Scania; photo at the bottom is the same bike as in the brochure but that's another truck in the background.)

Unofficial Death Valley Days thread now! I ran across a tiny little taco place south of Monterrey that was doing a GREAT business a few years ago, and that was out of a taco trailer. They had wayyyyyyyyyyyy more volume than a Sonic that was two doors away and just a fraction of the overhead. They had so much volume during lunch that the local traffic cops were directing traffic, so I stopped in to see what the fuss was all about. Great, fresh tacos! ![]() I also ran across a guy a few months ago that had some sort of fancy bar-b-que setup in a converted front engined Thomas school bus. I've stayed in touch with him regarding bus conversions. He seems to have a pretty slick specialized gig and was running from South Texas to somewhere in Oklahoma to go his special catered 'que when I met him. Moral of the story: wouldn't totally laugh about doing food prep out of an RV.

For PirateJohn, I took this last Sunday. Unfortunately it was the best picture I got of the Bluebird and the Cadillac. The sun and the closing speed were against me.

This thread is a ....................
Oh wait, that line is taken. Weird, I had a dream about an old Bounder RV last night. Was at the OCC shop, trying to pick up some bike parts, then on the road it started coming apart. Had to go back and rebuild the whole RV clear down to the frame and sticks. I have no fuggin clue what that was all about.

Love those Blue Birds - what is really sick is that I also enjoy working on them as much as driving them!
And I still go camping on my GSA! .
