I had to rebuilt the gearbox, final drive, all possible seals you can think of and generally just did my head in, but what a great bike. Miss it badly

Got this R80 all spec'd up by sheck in Germany (Shame the bike lives in South-Africa) which I ride on holiday's

Does not look like much but Mahle piston/barrels & rings. Twin Plugged, WP rear shock, HPN tank and yes that poor seat is a Corbin. Bike has been through Africa(Pity not with me on it) and still going strong.

I enjoy tinkerering on the airheads as they have charachter and always something to fiddle about with. The R45 was bought as a project for my wife and I will be damned if that bike get stripped for spares - no way jose

Hey Mav very cool bikes,

To me its easy for some to say why would you bother when they see a pic of your R45, But thats what restoration is all about isnt it. All you need is the passion & just a small amount of patience

The problem with this is that would airhead GS's go in Airheads or GSpot? That would be confusing. Unless GSpot got renamed to Oilheads/Hexheads which I don't think will go over and I personally think its stupid. Maybe a VINTAGE forum makes sense for non GS airheads and other old POS.

Airheads would probably dominate but it would broaden the "viewer base"

We call it "Old School Rides" and subtitle it "Airheads, Brits, Guzzi's, UJM's and the rest" (would that fit)

That way when I finally get a Commando I can stay and play.

I think this is a great refinement of the original idea, and it would seem to have less overlap with the other forums. Calling it "Airheads" or "Old School Rides" matters less to me than having a place to talk about /7, /6, /5, and /2 specific issues.
