I'm in Jackson, I ride a KLR 650; mostly street. I ride with carabnsol a lot, we generally have some good trips; when work doesn't get in the way!

Talking

Last night, on the way home, I passed a guy on Old Fannin Road that was driving "my" motorcycle... Well at least the one I am working on getting... 2009 Black KLR650... anyone on here? Had panniers and luggage. I might have to get a different color. Can't have a twin in the same neighborhood!!

Mine is red, and my brother's is black but it wasn't him you saw. He lives in Clinton and doesn't have panniers. I don't know that I've seen another '09 on the road around here but I'm sure there are several.

I hope to have a black 09 very shortly. GG sold the one I was looking at a last month. They said they would find me one when I was ready. I may have to run buy there this afternoon and see what I can work out.

I'm rather new to all this, so don't know much about different bikes, but we're mostly paved backroads riding, so I imagine there aren't a whole lot of bikes that can't hang with us!

Congrats, I wish I could afford one, but I'm young and there's plenty of time for that down the road.

Tell you what...I'll trade you a 2003 ninja 250 with almost 17,000 miles for it. Straight trade. That's fair right?

Yes, I got it at Got-Gear (tongue twister?). They had it in the warehouse, still in crate. I was surprised. They are prepping it this morning and said they would call me to pick it up this afternoon...

And wouldn't you know it, it's overcast and looks like rain!!!!

So what can you other riders tell me about getting my Motorcycle endorsement on my license. Been a dirt rider for years and want to do some paved riding too. I've been over the MSF books for the test, but what is the driving part like?

Congrats on the new bike. You can go online and take a practice test for your endorsement. I did this 3 or 4 times and read through the booklet once and easily passed the test. You should go to the testing center in Rankin County and take your bike with you. For the riding test all I had to do was make a loop around the parking lot.

Sweet! Is the practice test on the DMV site or the MSF site? I think I took the one on the MSF site a couple of times and it was not too bad.

The written exam was made to be tricky, but if you just think through the scenarios, it's not that bad. My road test on the other hand could have been completed by my dog. Three circles clockwise followed by three counter clockwise without touching down with your feet. I wouldn't worry about anything other than the long lines really.
