Albuquerque, Jemez, Mt. Taylor, or Cabezon
Does anyone have any single track routes for the area around Albuquerque, the Jemez Mtns, Mt. Taylor, or Cabezon? I know there are tons of single track routes and I would rather set out on some that I know the outlet and then explore from there. I ran some in the Jemez on my old 1983 YZ490 (same year as me
) but now I am on a KLR and want to just explore in a sane manner.Any routes will help! |

Secrets
There is some great riding in NM but no one seems to want to let you know where it is.
I am looking for good stuff to ride in the Santa Fe area and it would appear that Buckman rode is the only place that is easy to find. There must be some great riding in the USFS but nobody seems to talk about it. Good luck and let me know if you find anything fun. |

Here is a great place to start learning trails.
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=464214 When you go down the Buckman road just a mile or so past the gate there is a single track that takes off to the right. If you keep any eye out for it on te way down you will see it. The track does a 33 mile loop and brings you back to where you started. Also I am riding Alcalde a lot these days. That is about 6 miles north of Esponala. There take a right turn on the BLM access road. Go in about 2 miles to where you pass the second gate. The trail starts right there. The parking area is about 1/4 mile beyond the gate. These trails are designed for small enduro bikes. In the Jemez there is a lot of single track over by the Flats area that is near the top of FR 289. A lot of people also ride Pliza canyon. Starting near the bottom of FR10. Then heading up to the Los Griegros MT area.

Thanks
Curious for those GPX files and thanks for the info.
New to riding around here and trails are def hard to find. Is it possible to ride near the Santa Fe Ski basin during the summer? |

not really the area you're asking about. but the Sandia Ranger ditrict by Tijeras, SE of Abq has designated lots of trail for OHV use.
http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/cibola/trave...ia/index.shtml Unfortunately, I don't have any GPS data for it. |

Try this, but might be tricky in the winter depending on the weather. Should be easy on a KLR. I had a KLR before I upgraded to the 950SE.
I would definatley like to hear of some more stuff in NM maybe down towards Socorro for the cold months. Anybody have some?

I don't know of anything directly out of SF to get you on the trail. The attached is a combo of the tracks I posted to get you from Espanola to Abiquiu. It would be all forest rds, easy but very scenic.
