Sidecar stuff...

graveling up the slope...

Here is a demonstration of the tilt modulator, which I have become fond of. So far it's been very reliable. I think the past problems were attributed to it being mounted upside down thus giving the elements a chance penetrate its weak side(leak). Mine is mounted upright and it's also protected by a canvas cover.

Too tilted????

Flip the switch and tilt to suit..

Riding different crowned roads..this gizmo has been a wonderful addition to our riding pleasure.

The State of Washington State...

Hi everyone....we finally reached our staging area for Alaska: WASHINGTON STATE....and what a state this is. I've only been here once..in the dead of winter and thought who wants to live in this NorthWet state. I wannnnaaa live here......!!

It's a longish state on the map and here are some loooooong pictures as far as the eye can see.

Rode route #2 all the way from Spokane to Bavaria, Germany..oops..Austria (Leavenworth) and you'll see why.

Route #2 leads you through wheat fields; deserts; mini-grand canyon....Swiss like Alps. This route was recommended to us by a young guy at some coffe shop in Coeur d' Alene, ID. It's a long, long ride but well worth it...

Patience...I ain't finished with more roads....been there, so ahh, taking you along for more roads...

Pulled into the Town of Coulee City for gas and some chow...

Town Library inside the restaurant..

The locals are mostly farmers..ranchers....and utilize these giant John Deere monsters...

Part of the Grand Coulee Dam branch...

Lookee here...gazillions of fish for easy picking but this is the demarcation line where one is not allowed to fish or even come close by boat...

More roads for you to Leavenworth..

As Charles Kuralt said..:"Thanks to the Interstate Highway System, it is now possible to travel from coast to coast without seeing anything."

That's why we took route #2.....

Pre FDA days..

Entering Washington's Grand Canyon...

Finally entered Washington's famous Apple Valley in Orondo..

Entering the gateway to the Cascades..

Leavenworth, WA, USA or Berghof, Bayern???

We decided to play Touristas and entered the town of Leavenworth..to our surprise the entire town looks like an Alpine village in Bavaria. Everything is adorned in the Bavarian way...streets...alleyways...sidewalks...buildings. .

Der MacDonalds...

Starbucks Kaffehaus...

Huehner Schnitzel...."sehr gut", sagt die Frau...

Schweine Haxe...

I know, I know...this is forbidden food...but it reminds me of old Germany.
Pretty authentic taste and texture

Ouch,, tastes good....hmmnn...burp.....Pepto Bismol ready at the hotel..one more bite....

Didn't eat the whole thing tho..

Auf wiedersehen Leavenworth...

Until the next episode

Cheers...your Hacked couple on the road....

On the road again.....

Water run-off from the mountains...

beautiful sight & sound...yes, we can hear the roar of the water up close.

more water!!

left over snow = more water coming down

Deception Falls

In case you need to go....there's a composting toilet on premise.

ahhh yes, more water.....stick with us for a while

The drive up and over the Stevens Pass takes over two hours, but it's a trip made worth it by spectacular scenery.

What's this lone man doing walking all this way...curiousity got to us so we turned around

and talked...Steve Fugate is walking for life in memory of 2 children he lost tragically. Read about it on his website: www.trailtherapy.com He's been walking for the past 10 years...walked across and all the way around USA....now walking to Canada!!

Tomorrow is his birthday and I just had to give him a birthday hug...hope he makes it to Canada!

gosh, Steve is gonna walk all this way!!

skiing anyone?

Place to rest for the weary...maybe Steve Fugate will stop and rest here!!

Logs here are bigger than those sticks from NC pine trees...

My all time favorite junk food. Used to take my children there when they were little. Had to stop for a bite or two...

mmmm good! have a bite....

Civilization........traffic......pollution.....@#* !@#%

Got to see our daughter & son-in-law while they were on vacation in Seattle...it was wonderful to see them!!

We will be in Seattle for few days while we have our sidecar checked out by Dauntless. More reports to come soon.

Your couple on the road....

Wish I'd seen this sooner...

You rode right past my home in Gold Bar on Highway 2! Are you heading back on 2? There are two ways to cross the Cascades up here... I-90 and SR2.

Great images!

Dropped my Hack at Dauntless today for some modifications and improvements. Will leave it at Jay for 1.5 weeks as we have to divert (fly) to L.Vegas attending a convention. After that we'll head toward Kamloops some time the end of June or the first week of July.
