I might be up for a scoot Sunday, depending how my weekend shapes up.

As for MPI - we can still dream, until they tax imagination

SGI vs MPI

Believe it or not MPI is cheaper for the 650 class than Saskatchewan. I did a MPI calculation and compared it to SGI and both are within a few dollars of rach other. The big differance comes into play when your bike is under 401cc. There is a $1400 jump in rates for the larger cc bikes. See attached link.

Sorry Greg I had to do it. Maybe we just whine alot for no real good reason. If I lived in Sasaskabush I would have a DRZ400 and flog the crap out of it at less than $500 a year for insurance.

There is private insurance in other provinces but does not provide the coverage we assume for the same dollars. Sure you can get cheeper coverage but you also assume some of the risk along with that.

MPI and the NDP

Of course your not going ot get a reply from you MP. MPI is a cash cow, they're not going to reduce nothing. As soon as I retire I'll be looking for other places to live that's not going to bleed my pension dry so I can ride. May concider leaving country all together if the government doesn't get it's act together.

Those lieing bastages said they were reducing our insurance premiuims for this year by 11%. When I went to insure my bike it was exactly the same as last year. When ask why they said the basic was reduced but the extras where increased. Almost akin to telling us they were NOT going to increase our taxes, then add a 3cent/litre tax to our gas.

Wonder what else the Dippers are going to take out of our pockets and spin it as a necessity. Rant done!

Well, I have a buddy in Dallas Texas. He rides a two year old Gold Wing. FULL coverage? 175$ per year.

Insurance is a numbers game of risk and reward In the US there are more numbers to spread the risk around and also more competition for premiums.

its not that we have the most expensive per say, its that the minimum insurance that MPI forces you to get is usually more than the maximum coverage you can get in other places

Tech day payoff

Well, just finished adjusting the valves on the KLR. I bought & installed four new shims. Bit of work, and a little bit of a challenge doing it outside with the wind blowing stuff around, but it's done, and done right. Time to reap the rewards and go for a spin! Big thanks to Brian again for showing me the way (to do it).

That was a fair bit of wind, eh? My commute out Hwy 3 was exciting - like the whole world was tilted except for me!

Just washed my scoot before sundown and oiled the chain. All set for a weekend of cruising.

I think I am going to bow out of the ride on Sunday, as I am going to head out on a solo adventure ride first thing Monday morning... My apologies, but I have 12 days off, and want to take full advantage of each and every one of them. I will be home doing house stuff tomorrow, and then organizing my packing on Sunday...and then, well

Cheers...

But the numbers are not how many ride, it's the accidents per 1000 people that competitive insurance bean counters look at. Those numbers don't change between countries. thus we should be able to get the same insurance deals here. But wait! We don't have competitive insurance, so MPIC can us as much as they want and not even use a lubricant.
