My two cents..
Bad techs, bad ground, bad ground.

I'd tear off the tach...gauges break in the bush!

I only use the tach as an indicator of what gear I'm in, if I lose count and am wearing ear plugs at the time.

Bad ground.... I wonder if they went through the wiring or not... At the time they had said something about the stator, possibly, which was what got me concerned about ending up stuck somewhere, and why I bought that battery maintainer, just to keep tabs on things.

I rarely use the tach and if mine was doing what yours is I'd never know.

Takes some getting used to that tall windscreen. The helmet noise is still there, though not as intense. Not much buffeting of me personally. I'm either getting more on the front of the bike, or I'm simply more aware of how the wind hits the bike now that I'm not getting the crap knocked out of me by the slipstream. Coming into Sanford I just ran a hand around the space in front of me to feel where the airflow is and the calm space seems to extend pretty much to my shoulders and to the top of my lid. Not bad.

And not a single bug managed to commit suicide on my visor. The screen caught em all!

....and the tach didn't play up this morning.

I'll be out at the Universal Aero shop tomorrow doing a valve check and throttle balance on the RT.
If you want to stop by I can have a peek at it.

Thanks for the offer - it's most appreciated, but I'm in meetings all morning and probably can't leave work before days end either.

Mark this one on your calenders for 2013.
Hey Carl, we can rain ride, sip Jack and have wild rice soup all over again...

Ya, I'm still planning on it. The weather is supposed to break. I registered online, so I'm not sure if one needs to go down friday night or early saturday for anything. I'll probably just show up early saturday.

Probably not going to have time to spic-n-span Thumper. It's a commuter, though, and it's earned the right to wear dirt and dead bugs, hauling my butt to work on mornings where I don't see a single other bike on the road.

Dirtwing

Just got back from our ride from Vegas north out of Nevada, to ride Utah and Arizona. Had a great adventure on our rental wing. Not the bike I'd like to have for some parts of the trip but the creature comforts were welcomed by Carla and I one morning when we climbed up to 10,400 foot plus elevation at Cedar Breaks, that dropped the temps down to 37F. Most of the time though we scheduling early morning rides. Up at 5am to beat the high 90's temps that we faced before noon. The Wing gets mighty hot as the temps rise. Many of the days we called it quits by 1pm as a result of the heat.

Carla did a great job of doing the picture taking on the back. Here's a few of the 1600 pics that we took. Really missed my KLR for this area.
Met a guy at Goosenecks State Park (just north of Mexican Hat, Utah) who told us about a 17 mile trail called Valley of the Gods, but warned us that it wasn't suitable for the Wing. I had to have a look.

Started in with some apprehension about navigating the 2 up loaded Wing.
Saw a sign that read "for high clearance vehicles only" ....gulp

Another sign warned of slippery conditions.....
I know this to be true, as Greg and I encountered this monkey snot last November in Moab

Lots of climbs....

and assorted off camber and other fun stuff....

Met a wide eyed guy in an old truck that said "never seen no goldwing out here before"
He figured that we had seen pretty much the worst that the trail had to offer by this time, so I got some confidence
that we could make it.

We took our time.....amazing landscapes
But worried about the clouds...if it started raining it could get sketchy in there

Pretty happy about completing the 17 mile trail......so we treated ourselves to a gourmet burger in Bluff

More pics coming as I edit them down a bit.....

Great pictures Mark.....no worries about the 'Wing I could see from the picture that it had the special aftermarket Kevlar bottom fairing/skid plate installed. I guess "Valley of the Gods" is now on your recommended list!
