It was nice to meet you folks, that was a great ride today!

We'll have to do another ride soon.

I'll toss some photos up on here, hopefully tomorrow.

It wasn't as warm as we were told all week ,but it was good to get out riding. It's going to be a while before we ditch-bang and trail blaze, way too wet.

Jumper and 818 are you guys still riding sleds, down there? Or have you been on the bikes?
Hi Everyone. No sleddin this weekend. Last weekend was a blast though. There are some spots in the valley where there is still good snow but with the warm temps its getting pretty sloppy. My bike is almost ready to pick up from Altona. New piston and rings are in, and a couple of other small things maintenance wise are also being done also. Its time to start riding again on the bike. Good winter for sleddin. About 2500 miles on the sled. Have a good week everyone.

08 Seat (stock) wanted

Looking for 08 seat for sale or borrow (for a fee of course) for about 4 weeks, if anyone has upgraded to a modified seat and it's just taking up space in storage. I'm going to order a Russell Day Long saddle and I have to send my pan into them (california) and it can't be done until a production date of about June but I don't want to lose riding time during the three weeks of sending seat and getting it back. Thus to replace it for a month and ride would be great. I live in Portage la Prairie and will pick up.
p.s. I have checked the "flee market" will no results. Replys or other ideas welcome. Thanks

South Winnipeg Adventure

Went for a ride today and decided to get a bit adventurous.

Assessed the situation and the road looked good, seemed dry like another dirt road I had taken 2 days ago.

Got to the top of the hill and realized just how badly I had misjudged the conditions, only had one thing left to do and that was get back down the hill.

With the extra weight on the front tire I dug in quite deep and when I finally did get to the bottom my front wheel was so bunged up it locked and the KLR decided to take a nap.

About 20 pounds of clay crammed up in there

Taking a nap

And the hill I "Conquered" with the pile of mud that took me 30 min to remove.

And to top it all off a nice shot on a bridge near Lorette

I can't for the life of me upload a picture today...

Called to arrange my road test today - the earliest date they start for Class 6 is May 4th (I took the 6th in the morning instead of the noon-hour time slots they had left on the 4th).

Guh.

705 revisited...

So with 133 Km on my KLR 705 upgrade, I tore the head off today and reinstalled it with a new head gasket.
I had pulled the covers to troubleshoot a "rubber-antifreeze" odour, and discovered oil seepage. The cam chain tunnel was weeping a bit of oil at the head gasket, and that's not something I wanted to deal with, not considering some of the rides I have planned this summer. (Inuvik and Trans Lab to start.)
Pain in the butt dremeling out a new head gasket, but worth it. A 20 minute static run yielded no further problems, so tomorrow I'll finish assembly and give it a run to Gimli or the like to ensure all is now correct. Cheers!

Totally useless, no tire is good in Manitoba clay however on a scale of bad, TKC 80 are less bad and D606 are even less bad, but dont buy a tire baised on how well it will shed clay.

Way to go Trevor. Wish I was with you. Reminds me of the river mud down by Emerson last year
