Since the CX is taken apart. Again. I'm going to not even bother racing the clock to get it back together.
Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with you guys on the KE.

Well, I made it and with the CX too. Figured water crossings were a strong possibility and the KE has the carb below the waterline.

Had a nice ride Saturday with MND Matthew. We waited to about 11:15, visiting, and queuing for gas (boy that Sheetz is busy!).
We hit both Beaverdam and Peach Orchard water crossings. There were a couple other places challenging enough to be better up on the pegs. Woo hoo! We tried to stop in Middleburg for a late lunch but it was very crowded. Next time I need to remember to go to the Aldie barbecue place. Thanks MND! Chris |

I am going to try and get some riding in tomorrow, probably a little later in the day. We have end of season football parties and X-Mas light duty to get through.
I will post up tomorrow morning after today's progress.

It was nice this afternoon, not too chilly. Rode through Leesburg on my way back from a short ride down 15 and stopped to talk to the guys at Loudoun Motorsports about replacing the springs and adding cartridge emulators on my VStrom. Looked at a couple of WRs and DRZs just for kicks (I'm totally buying one of those as soon as I find a good deal on a used one!) They have a Super Tenere there that I drooled on a bit too.
Anyway, if you all ride tomorrow afternoon I might be able to make it depending on the time. |

possible new "tag"-o-rama
Four of us, (3 Old Town Alexandrian's, and 1 Washingtonian) headed out Sunday for a bit of a ride in the Manassas area. We had the gamut of the BMW lineup, a GSA, a GS, a F800gs, and a F650gs single). I will write up a little ride report and get pictures once one of the other guys gives me permission, but I have a "tag"-o-rama / search and recovery operation if someone is interested. My neighbor and friend (on the GS) was having a grand old time, but somewhere between the Bull Run Crossing, and Oatlands Rd/Rt. 15 intersection, he lost his VA liscense plate and the Bob's BMW placard behind the plate. If someone finds the plate, we will be most grateful, plus, it gives someone a reason to ride some beautiful dirt roads. I am going to try to attach the map to show you our route.

Sunday's Ride...where were you all?
Attached are some of the pictures of our ride. With all 4 types of GS bikes, we look like a BMW commercial that I will never get paid for. All pictures are provided by our ride photographer Lucas, and I know it is in capable hands....the guy works for NASA!
Fuelling up in Old Tpwn Alexandria. When you bicycle to work, I get sticker shock everytime. Pulled off 66 because of bumper to bumper traffic. Kevin (on the right whom you will hear later) is checking his fancy pants Iphone to see how much further the traffic is...good news...it's cleared up just ahead, time to cruise out to Gainesville! River Crossing at Bull Run River. Who's going first? Who's going into the creek to pick up a bike should it fall or stall....I guess I am since I organized this ride. I guess I also am running point to see how deep it is. I swear it was a lot deeper as I rode across it! And Yeah, I need some bar risers. Clay on the GSA...that bike makes a creek look like a puddle! Kevin going through...one of the cleanest guys I know. I think this is his first water crossing. Somehow his bike never got dirty, and yet he still washed it when he got back home. Please note, lisc. plate is still attached. Another shot of Kev. ![]() Lucas, now this guy can do anything, including most of the photography. Later his tail light rattle loose, as the rest of us chatted, he had it on in a jiffy. I guess it's good he's a NASA boy! ![]() Lunchtime....but this is kind of in the middle of nowhere. Wait, there's Middleburg in the middle! End of the day, in Middleburg, after lunch...all smiles. Casualties of the day, Kevin's lost lisc. plate, and Lucas's brake light won't flash. Somehow this picture looks like either a bmw commercial, or maybe a beer commercial? So with that, anyone finding a VA liscense plate, as well as the Bob's BMW placard, please notify me and I will come pick it up. That or Kevin will have to stand in the VA DMV line. I don't know what it's like out there in the boondocks, but here in Alexandria, it's where time has stopped, and most likely your day is over before it began.. |
