For adventure TOURING, the tenner no doubt. Reliable, cheap, comfortable, everything you need. If you like to spend money and carry a lot of tools and gas cans along on the trip the KTM is the one for you.

The question is: What is adventure touring for you?

The 690 and the XTZ are very different machines built for different purposes.

Any more talk on the release of the 690 Adventure? Or any more comments on the Tenere or 690 Enduro?

You can't even compare the two bikes, they are completely different animals.

You are better off comparing the XT to a KLR or other 650 Japanese singles and the KTM to the Husky 610.
Wedding(s) = $30,000
Divorce(s) = $25,000
2009 Husky TE610 = Priceless

First off id like to say i have owned a xt660z for 3 months and have done 4000k's and all the bolt on mods and sitting on 51hp as opposed to the 65 on the ktm... Too clear some stuff up.. the XTZ engine is designed and made in Minarelli, Italy... and so are many many other parts on the bike.. due to the contrary belief its a ricer

Engine wise the KTM will outperform the Yamaha in brute power, but that doesnt mean its slow.. i came from a 09 250 exc ktm and im not complaining at all...

the only 2 things i have needed too change on the bike that i felt should have been adressed from factory is the soft sprung suspension and the windshield turbulence and certain speeds ~40Mph. other than that the bike is great.

the ergos are great for taller riders i am 6'1 and feet just touch the ground comfortably...

I havent ridden a 690 KTM but im certain the tenere is more capable at long day trips (500km) while the ktm would be the choice for lets say 100km trail ride

XT 600 E... thumping fun but not for motorways
Suzuki DR350... mellow fun but now gone

The Suit:What would you consider to be your greatest weakness?
Me: Honesty.
The Suit: Honesty? I don't think honesty could be construed as a weakness.
Me: I don't give a fuck what you think.
