acerbis sahara tank install question

I'm putting an Acerbis Sahara tank on the xr650r and have a question about the petcock mounting. The kit supplied has an "O" ring around the petcock filter but no sealant or o-ring around the mounting screws that drive into the plastic tank. Anyone have this install leak? Thinking about putting some sealant around the screws....I looked on the Acerbis site and there were nothing else shown with the petcock valves...Non issue?

Thanks

Same here

Just today I started installing a Sahara on my 02 BRP.

I installed my petcocks which were L and R hand with just the O ring on the filter tube and the screws provided. No sealant.

I recieved no instructions other than a sheet that showed mounting points on the tank with the mounting kit showing use of stock parts and new bolts. The instructions are POOR to say the least.

My right side lower tank bracket Perfect fit!
Lower left? Off by probably 12 mm to low. Needs to be bent up to position.

My other issue is> The frame bumper? Where does it get placed> I assume its the rear of the tank but do you remove the stock bumper? Or on top of it? In front of it? I think the stock bumper holds the O/F tube from the carb? Got cold and late so I called it a nite and left it on the lift.

So anyone have the Bumper placement details?

Did another search on the tank install and found that other ADV riders have had the same questions. Seems Acerbis has crappy instructions.

Rubber frame bumper. Goes on halfway up the frame rail...

Petcock: One small O ring around the filter, nothing on the screws...just don't over tighten.

Find better qualitiy fuel line and a brass 'T', as the stuff in the kit is cheap.

Other riders found the side bolts too short and had to get longer and better grade. (grade 8 probably)

I'm assuming the petcocks point forward?

the longer bolts used are off the yamaha WR 450 tank bolts..

they are taperd and will start the tread easier.

no worries on the Screws I'm working on 4 years and no issues

If you want a better mounting system for the bottem of the tank lookup inmate Hodakaguy. He makes brace/cross bar for the lower mount that is much better than the oem acerbis parts. The bar spreads the bottem of the tank a little to give some crash room before the radiator is crushed. The brace parts are laser cut and welded in a jig for quality control. As far as mounting except for the petcocks every thing else is oem honda. There is a good online parts lookup on Bike Bandit or Service Honda.I have a Hodakaguy brace on my xrr and its worked well .Bike has been layed down on both sides-tank didnt move and stays away from radiators.Tank is easier to reinstall after service work.

Tnks oldxr.
I already got a set of Hodakaguy braces.

I'll try to find the other parts ;)

Any idea about T line to use...canīt find anything on ebay.
I remember I had some kind of rapid conector from Tank to T line and from here to Carbs but canīt find it.
