If you go to the thumpers index top of your page (just click on the word thumper Yoss) then page down to the bottom of the main thumper index & you will see the moderators of this forum (gadgetboy & gaspipe) click on the name & you can then ask them to fix your title.

Mezo.

Its weekend so I have some time to continue....
I installed the valve cover then I did vavles clearance adjustment.

then I installed the clucth assy put the left and right engine covers back. Verified that all screws were closed and torqued properly.
...part 1 of the project has been completed. (need to use more of these smilies...)

In the meantime I was looking for a bike to buy. Took me several weeks till I found someone who broke his engine due to a gear problem....a DR650 SE year 1998...

The bike's original engine was out of the bike, some components were broken but most were in great condition so I am selling some of them to save some money for the new bike I wants to build...
The weekend after I started to stript the bike apart, I decided that I wanted to rebuild the bike from scratch and make it like a new one...

Part 2 of the project has just begun......

What'd you do about that broken clutch cover? If you said, I missed it. Also, if you got a bunch of engine parts, did you get that clutch cover so you could replace the broken one?

Good stuff.

I havn't got much of a rebuild thread myself. It's more of an ongoing "build" thread...

Hi again
So the bike got stripped till the frame. the chassis was cleaned and it was clear that it will be repainted.

I sandblasted it - tooks me 4 hour to complete the whole frame then I send it to be galvanized.

Then I took the frame to a painter for regular painting, I choose a metalic color , and it come great....but

But the surprise came soon...when I inserted the engine back into the frame , I put some tape to protect the chassis and then when I took it off, the paint started to pill off ....needless to say I was disappointed....
The painter did a great job but didn't used the right primer for galvinized metal.
So without too many questions, I looked for powder coating shop and found someone. The problem with powder coating is that you don't have a big choise of colors and also the don't have metalic colors either. So I choose one that looks like metalic, a color that have some metal particles inside. When it came out the paint texture was rought and not smooth, so I did something that has not been done before- additional powder coating laquer layer. And this came great......

In reality the coating looks much better than the pix.....
friends, tha's all for today I am going to sleep....
