South Boston sailing day

Yo,

I've had a couple people say they would be interested in going out sailing sometime. As the summer winds down it's a great time to be on the water.

I live in hingham at the shipyard and keep my boat, 37' Dickerson, there. There are lots of islands part of the boston parks that we could check out. Have lunch somewhere.

http://www.bostonharborislands.org/

I'm thinking a Saturday or Sunday in mid September. Ride over say around 11, head out for 5 hours and be back at the dock around 5ish.

No experience necessary, I'm happy to show anyone as much as I can. I can probably take 8 people out give or take but we start running into the fact that I don't have enough life jackets after that.

My boat is the blue one in the middle

Shine always appreciated

So if people want to get on the water for a fun day let me know and we'll nail down a date that works.

Pete

Very generous offer Pete! September is the best month for getting out on the water.

I agree September is a great month usually better wind then august. If people get into it I'd be willing to make it more of a semi regular thing.

Greetings!

Hey Sailah, greetings from another sailor. (I've often wondered how many ADVers were sailors!) Your Dickerson's a beaut by the way! That's a nice offer. I've taken several ADV friends of mine sailing many times as well.
Here's a shot of my Shannon 28 cutter on Lake Champlain.
The worst thing about riding season is it coincides with sailing season and the resulting conundrum of whether to do an organized ride or go sailing. No wind in the forcast is a no brainer but sometimes they get it WRONG!!!
How is the sailing in Boston harbor?

Sweet I love the Shannon boats. I was hot on the trail of a Shannon 38 this spring but lost the bidding war. Ended up buying this boat instead. Those 28 look sweet.

Boston is fun but not a lot of big water sailing. I get down to Newport a lot to race though. Headed there next weekend for the Newport Classic regatta.

Plan to cruise my boat next summer to Maine, my home state.

So about your quandary. Ride down from Vermont, sail in Boston ride home. Win win

Sounds like fun!

Hey Sailah- count me in! I've done some sailing in Maine but haven't been up there for a few years and would love the opportunity to get on the water. Long-time lurker in Malden and finally got a bike so I hope to be a more active participant in the forum (would like to give back in a small way for the pleasure I've gotten following RRs). Anyway, keep me in mind if things come together and enjoy this nice weekend! Jim

Jim you're in baby. I'm anchored off Georges island right now. Kids and wife are napping down below. Boat is rolling in some gentle swells. Lots of wind today everyone and their cousins are out today. Just the perfect day to be out. Life is good.

Wow, PERFECT day to be out there. I work at Logan and spend a fair amount of time gawking at the boats heading out of the harbor. I'll keep an eye on the thread for updates. Trying to do a weekend ride to NH during early September but that's about it.

Nice gesture you're offering here Sailah. Anyone that's never sailed would be foolish to pass up this offer. I'd be all over it but I've sailed since I was 20ish. Best way to be on the water.

If you have room I'll join you but I'd rather see non sailahs take advantage of this opportunity. But I've been boatless for almost 9 years so maybe I qualify;-)

How about Sept 27-28 weekend? Either day is fine for me.

The weekend before is Cromag and I'm planning on going to that.

Any and all are welcome

That looks like fun. We have a 25' oday and a sunfish on cayuga lake. Never have been on the ocean in a sailboat, many years in the navy tho. If you have any openings or know a date my better half and I would jump on board. Don't know about the shine but we like our wine. Lol
