Do you have a build thread, I have a GL1100 that I need to finish and this is pretty close to the outcome I want.

My $800 Yamaha 650 Turbo as it looked when I bought it:

Of course it needed tires, a little fuel system work, and steering head bearings. I decided to paint the lower fairing a bit brighter shade of red and here's how it looked last spring:

I've only put a little over 2000 miles on it in the two years I've had it, but I'm hoping my son and I can get in a few short weekend tours next summer before he gets married.

Just picked this up for $50 yesterday w/a spare running(supposedly) 125 motor. It's gonna take a little work and maybe 1-200$ in parts but I think it will be a fun around town bike. Found it in a barn

First bike - from 1997

1975 Moto Guzzi 850T, purchased from Jen @ Die Werkstatt in SF, for $1500 on the nose.

Look, the picture's so old, I had to scan it! This was a little bit after purchase as I'd already replaced the stock seat with a V7 Sport repop..fender & taillight are somewhere nearby about to be attached.

Learned to ride on that & enjoyed it for a while until taking it all apart for 'improvements'. 10 years later I've started actively working on it again. Frame is powdercoated & in the process of adapting modern Honda CBR forks. Yes I've been following Loaded's thread on Old's Cool, great stuff.

I have been keeping an eye out on the older sport bikes for sale. I would LOVE to find a low dollar sport bike just for messing around when I feel a little more spirited. I'm holding out mainly for a Honda CBR900rr, 929, zx9, zx11 or something along those lines. I may go a little higher than the $1500 range but I would like to keep it close to that.

Got one I'm about to add. 1985 VF700F I just bought for $250. Kind of a basketcase, but complete, titled, parked for the last 10 years, the whole deal. Hoping to be under the $1500 marker when its back on the road.

Technically, this bike breaks the rule by a buck, but I think it meets the spirit of the thread anyway. I found this 2009 FZ6 posted on Craigslist for "$1500, priced for quick, winter sale" early last Monday morning and emailed the seller right away.

I bought it with 6450 miles, a Puig double bubble windscreen, a Yamaha comfort seat, and a loud set of Two Brothers pipes and undertail, which I'll sell to offset the purchase price. It also has a bit of rash on the stator cover, a bent shift lever, and is missing the passenger pegs (!?)

Once I get rid of the pipe and undertail (already got the stock bits) and slap on some Givi V35s, it should be a good little bike. Price was right, anyway. If I can get $250 for the Two Bros, I think I can get the replacement stock parts and end up around $1400 net investment.

Nah, middle aged guy like me with title and keys in hand. Moving out of the country and priced it too low. I think he realized (he got hundreds of emails), but he was a person of integrity and stuck to the offered price.
