Seen it done with good results, but I'd likely go the scrambler route before I'd cafe it

The way the deal worked out I actually got paid to take this kz1000ltd. I never took a before pic but it looked just like this. (pic off the net)

Cleaned the carbs chopped some things off, put a 4 into one, different bars and rode it for a few years.

scooped this dt175 2 smoke for $70 too.

didnt' run.
Put a new key in the flywheel and still ride it today a few years later.

I'm officially an old man now. But at least I'm a Cheap old man. $1000, ran last fall, developed a "gas in the oil" condition over the winter. Owner knew enough to take it to a shop but didn't want to spend their (exorbitant) rates (can't blame him, they were quoting $1200 for a petcock, carb rebuild and oil change ~ that's $100 in parts from Murphs).

It's Barney purple too....

Now, which forum? ZG Fanatics, or COG?

Well the ultimate score. Given to me by another inmate that didn't want it after he picked it up. So cost it FREE!!

1983 Honda FT500 Ascot
Only 3200 original miles
Runs great. Only problem is the Tach had a dirt dabber's nest in it and it broke the spring.
Came with fresh oil change, air filter and spark plug. WOO HOO.

My turn to participate! Got a couple of stable mates to keep the big ol' WeeStrom company in the garage.

First Up: '73 Cb450
Price: Free
This bike was given to me by a stranger I met while in the hospital . The bike blew up on previous owner in 83' and he put a newish motor in it and it has sat since then. Took it home, cleaned carbs, and she fired up! So logically I stripped her down to her frame and is currently undergoing a resto. Here She is at the unearthing

Second Up: '02 Ninja 250
Price: 900 bones
Wife passed her MSF class and that night this little bike popped up. Certainly not the best lookin girl at the dance but she can dance checked valves ( all were pretty out of spec) and she runs great. Couldn't ask for a better beginner bike for the wife!

Cheap bike

My first bike was a 1986 Honda CR125R for $450 bucks. I rode it for 6 years and then sold it for $400 bucks.
Ten years later, about a month ago, I picked up an 88 Honda NX250 for $550. It needed a fair amount of work but I will take it to be inspected this weekend.

EDIT: Bahh! I can't get the photo to show up.

Great Value (Cheep!)

Mine is a Craigslist find. 1980 Kawasaki KZ750. Bought in Feb 2008 for $800. It runs fine. Love the power, need to re-work the carbs some to boost the reliability.
I shall call her Kinkaku.

Can I get a two-fer here?
This is my wifes, 1986 Kawasaki 454LTD. $1200 Fits her perfectly as the seat height is low...for the vertically challenged..
