I was alerted to this one by a regional Craigs List watch thread here on ADV. A really clean all original '85 GPz550. Needed a carb cleaning, now it runs beautifully. Just under 12k miles, got it for $1500. We're taking it to Barber next week.

That was the one up here in the Jax area? I was SOOOOO tempted, but I knew the wife would kill me if my ADD kicked in and I stopped working on the Lancer.

Damn, I could have started a museum if I'd kept all these things. These were all purchased in the past 15 years.
All of them ran with minor effort. There are dozens more found that didn't run and a bunch more I never photographed that ran also. The Big Brown Turd. It is nice to have a project again...
I picked up a 1983 Gold Wing Interstate. It just had the carbs rebuilt and runs perfect. New tires and fork seals sealed the deal for me and I snatched it up.
Below are some before and after pics from the diet I put her on today. A list of all the preventive maintenace stuff is at the bottom. All I need is brake lines and and a bit of time to do some painting, coating and put it back together as FrankenWing. $1196.66 invested at this point. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bike $500.00 Head lights: $36.98 Tach Cable: $18.86 Engine side cover: $9.98 VALVE COVER GASKETS $20.20 Seat $140.24 Temp headlight $37.19 Master cylinder $158.50 needed so I can UN-link the ridiculous linked brakes Brake line splitter $23.98 Air Filter $15.98 Brake pads $19.98 Timing belt covers and tensioners $61.68 Napa: timing belts, filters, plug, hose.. $80.00 Paint and Misc. $42.55 Brake fluid, more paint and such $31.54 -------- $1196.66... So far… I should be well under the $1500 budget set and have a bike that I plan to put 150k miles on.. I will post an update in a few weeks when I am done putting it together.

I bought this for $500 or $600 in kind of rough shape. Nasty old stock sagging blinkers, ugly stickers all over it, needed maintenance and to be ran to clean out the carbs, etc. I rode it and just never gelled with the bike.
Here she is when I got rid of it. ![]() Traded it for this. It needed a LOT of maintenance. Parents let their kid use it for college. Seats wouldn't budge (probably beer), filthy, bird feathers in airbox, tailgate was smashed in from rolling back into a tree, wavy rotors, frozen lug nuts, etc etc. I almost didn't do the trade because it looked so bad and the dad thought it used some oil between oil changes. The guy shook my hand, said "good deal" and got the heck out of here. We were both content with the deal. ![]() Here's how she looks these days. Installed bigger tires, salvage tailgate, lots of maintenance. Runs great, doesn't use any oil. I drive it all the time. Myself and the family have a lot of fun with it.
