My $500 find. A friend of mine told me about this old guy that had an old honda in his basement. I checked it out and found this. I actually offered him $350 for it
. He said he thought it was worth $500 ,I agreed and I put it in my truck. 4000 original Mi.

I bought this in pieces for $500. I had the dents taken out of the tank and bought new tires and a Crobin seat. I think I have $1300 in it. It's a 1985 Honda Sabre V65. Ungodly fast

bought a 1983 yamaha 650 maxum shaft drive for $900. needs a little cosmetics but runs like a champ. got it for my kid, he wanted to spend about $6k for a bike. told him that how would he feel if he laid down a bike that cost $900 or how wpuld he fell if he drop one that cost $6k. he saw the point. I told him that after a year and two safety courses then I would go half's with him on a new bike.

FREE! My friend bought it for $900 or $1000, cant remember. He decided he didnt like motorcycling/wrenching and gave it to me instead of going through the hassle of selling it. Figured that I would put it to better use than he did. Had 5 or 6k on it when he gave it to me. Its been to every state on the east coast (excluding Rhode Island) and up North to James Bay. JBR ![]() Perry, FL ![]() BRP, NC ![]() I also have a 75 CB200T which I bought for $200 with under 3k on the clock, sold for $600 to another friend, then traded a kayak to get it back. Still under 4k on the clock. Awesome bike, need to get some pics up.

Goddam, that bike was THE SHIT back when I learned to ride! I salivated endlessly for one.
(no, I'm not interested in buying one, though! )Quote:

My GF and I picked up this sweet baby in earlier this summer, it's her first bike. It's a 1982 Yamaha 550 Vision it had 3,700 miles on it, the owner just put in a new battery, changed the oil and rebuilt the carb. It came with an extra clutch cable, shop manual, windshield, helmet[1982 vintage
], back rest, luggage rack, and a Samsonite top box. It runs great but still has the "vision stumble" no dents and hardly any corrosion. The only issue is a half dollar size hole in the right side muffler. We picked all of this up, a rare bike as well, for $900. It's a fun little bike and has some sharp handling plus it's the only one on the block! [IMG] [/IMG]

All of my last few bikes were less than 1500 Euros...
There was: Suzuki GS1000e for 850e (one of the front brakelines was rubbed through due to an improvement (means a solid steel strut) made to the GS1000S-Fairing, that was butchered onto it) Next there was a GPZ1100 for 1400e, still sitting in my shed, but I have overspent by a couple o' hundreds... (waiting in my shed to be revitalised again). Then there is a XT500A, bought for 450e, plus a second engine 250e, plus a set of XT600 forks for 50e (actually the whole XT600 was just 70) a rack and two old ammo crates... I use this one as an everyday-ride. Then there is my hack, which is a 1977 XS750 Triple, bought for 333e plus some odd 100 for carb-kit etc. Plus another 500e for a used Dnepr-Sidecar, plus some tubing... All in all still below the 1500-mark. And then there is my flat-black XV1000, cost 1000e straight, plus 200 for a set of new tyres, plus 90 for some stainless brake-hose plus a new brake m/c and some small bits... still below 1500e as well. Here are some pix: The Hack: ![]() ![]() The TR1 (XV1000): ![]() ![]() The XT500 (in reverse chronological order, the last pic was when I bought it, the first pic was made last weekend, after fitting some stainless headers and pipe): ![]() ![]() ![]() I admit, I am dedicated believer in riding cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeap Greg nanno screwed with this post 09-10-2009 at 12:25 AM |
