Really should limit this to the current decade. Every bike I owned before 1976 cost less than $1500.

I realize we are talking cheap here. Still, every time I try to relive my past by buying an older bike like this, I'm amazed at the difference in handling and braking between those older bikes, and a much newer bike that might only be a little more money. Say for example, a $3K SV650. I know it's outside the point of the exercise, but honestly, I find it hard to enjoy those older bikes having ridden newer ones.

Not a street bike, but I bought a KE125 for $15 from a dealer's bone pile. Yes fifteen. It looked pretty good and was complete. Put gas in it, literally gave it like 3 kicks, then rode the living shit out of it for 2-3 years around the farm. Never put a dime into it. I think it's still at my dad's place.

82 Seca 650 for $800.
![]() Two days ago, and rode it 130 miles home. Bought it from the original owner, and he bought it new in '84. I loved these bikes when they came out, but didn't have the scratch for one. I settled for a FT500 Ascot instead. Much nicer without the silly plastic windscreen that blows air up my helmet and opens my faceshield.

1990 ZX-6D, picked it up with 38k on the clock and a full legit old school Kerker race exhaust for $1250. Rattlecan paintjob, new battery, new shoes and resprung the blown suspenders still squeaking in under $1500, three years later broke 100k and can still run 11.3's whupping SV butts all day long. I love the ergo's & dead stable handling with the killer motors on these vintage Kwack's.

Heh in three years I've only ever seen one other D model, oddly enough a garage queen parked a block away, lol. I was thinking about streetfightering it (after some pretty rough 60k my uppers are held together with Plastex & duct tape), but just going to sell and move on to a big naked next year I think. My cheap bike = 2002 Suzuki Savage 650. Price = FREE
My step dad caught bike fever bad a few years back and purchased a Buell Blast, 2 Savage 650's and a Honda Shadow Ace all in one years time. He let the two Savage bikes set for the last two years not riding them. He gave one to me and the other to my sister. The one I got was a 2002 with 7840 miles and a brand new rear tire. I have spent slighty over $200 (title change, insurance for a year and an oil change) getting the bike on the road again. I know its not the best bike on the road but who could turn down a free running bike? ![]() <>< Fish

I agree about SV650s. These days there are plenty of first gen SV650s that go between 2500 and 3000. If you watch you could get one for around 2k. What a great bike for the price.
All great finds. Thanks for posting your finds people.
