Way off topic ... i'm sorry ...

It's all about the comfort... which becomes more important with each passing year! The rest of our road bikes are now gathering dust or have been relegated to stationary training duties.
Hi!

Sorry for hijacking this thread a bit. With all those Calfees who needs another bike, right? Although the novelty of a bamboo bike would be fun.

Two quick stories. Years ago I found a stray/stranded/abandoned kitten on a bicycle ride. I picked him up, tucked him in the front of my lycra jersey. He snuggled in between my breasts and had his head sticking up, out the front of the shirt for the ten mile ride back home. I named him after my bike, Tetra. Whenever he was awol in the house, nine times out of ten I'd find him curled up in my smelly, sweaty lycra cycling clothes.

Second story. Craig Calfee is truly the type of eclectic bicycle geek found in the deep portals of the industry. He's one who can tell stories of who built what, rode what, designed what, crashed what, and when. He's also a bit territorial. I had sent my frame out to him for a little repair work. He called to say he was going to repaint the whole bike. I asked why. He said he wanted to get that CarbonFrame name off it and put Calfee on it. Carbon Frame was the name of his company before he started Calfee Design. I imagine you have stories to tell as well. Maybe we should take this private or to the bicycle thread.

Enjoy,

Liz

Thirty years of bliss

Taken on our honeymoon

Taken on our actual honeymoon

Thirty years later - same wife, same bike, same interests. We do however live on the other side of the world now

My sweetie has enjoyed riding pillion since we met, and just about a month ago took the MSF training and got her first bike! It's a 2009 Suzuki TU250X, new to the US market, retro-look fuel-injected little cutie! She's only 5'1" tall so it was tough to find a real motorcycle that fit her well. It's a sweet little bike and she's really enjoying riding on her own now, but still isn't ready for the highways. We were out riding around the 'hood and came across our neighbor on his REALLY retro 1936 Indian Scout; he thought the little rice burner was very nice!

Luckily we live in an area where there are a zillion miles of beautiful back country roads for her to practice on.

It's so cool to see The Fire lit in someone you love, eh? It's been burning in me for ~47 years now; the TU250X was my 44th bike purchase!

We are also a couple. My husband Toni rides both a Honda Africa Twin and a Suzuki DRZ400 and I (Nina) ride a BMW F650 GS and a Suzuki DRZ250. We enjoy both off-road and road long trips.

Spanish Pyrenees, near of Camprodon, Girona

Col de l'Iseran, French Alps

Our honeymoon was also on wheels! I remember when we reached the 4* hotel with all our off-road clothes dirty of mud and we let know the recepcionist that we were the just married couple, her face!

Just for fun we dressed for the occasion and ended up being offered a couple of free meals in restaurants - but that was thirty years ago

Leaving on honeymoon

You were lucky!, the hotel only offered a bottle of champagne to us as just married... the meals would surely be delicious!
We are still regretting to didn't think to take the camera with us, you have a nice memento instead.

(my excuses again for my English, I hope to improve my skills soon)
