Works for me... so far. If anyone wants to trailer, I've got a 6X12 enclosed trailer 3 bikes would fit in. Van room for 12 people. Let's see how interest unfolds....TBC

I'm probably in, but since I'm on a bigger bike, I don't know that I'll be able to follow you on singletrack. I'll give it a whirl though. Maybe there will be enough folks to do two groups- singletrack and wider trails.

I want to try to make this.
I do have a few routes that I could suggest. Travelling counter clockwise, start at say Lake Pillsbury, ride M1 north to Covelo, ruth zenia road to ruth lake, 36 to fortuna. There is a county park with showers and a couple of hundred sites. By late august this park is largely deserted. we camped in one site that was about 100 yards off the loop road in a grove of truly massive redwoods. This is a somewhat long ride so an early start is needed. Second day, head to the cabin in the pic at shelter cove after getting supplies at say ferndale. Day 3, south on usal rd to hwy1 to ft bragg. Cross the coast range using sherwood road and you are in willits. At this point it will be later in the day and most folks will beeline for home when getting on 101. The ride can be tweaked to include more or less dirt. All these roads are passable in a passenger car unless it rains. In that case usal rd will be a real mess. Are you talkin leave Sat am or rendezvous somewhere friday night? If you dont have all day on Friday I would not take the ruth zenia road as this is a time consuming route. I would just take sherwood to Ft bragg, then usal to the cabin riding the route in reverse on the way back. That would be a good mix of scenery, dirt and street. That may be the best route for a larger group in my opinion. |
