Talking Se

for some reason or other( no logic at all) it has entered into my mind that I want a 950 SE.
I don't know why and would really like for someone or all of you to push this idea into the murky hinterlands of my brain!
Or to say this is a great idea and that I'll love it and have the best of times on it.
Bear in mind that I have already a 990 ADV and a 1200 GSA, so why on earth do I want another bike?
HELP!!!

Because I don't think there is anything else like it made. It's just ridiculous. I want one too!

Well, if this is the case, there is an unbelievable abundance of well setup SE's in the flea market. Now's the time to shop. Wish I was in the market.

I have one and love it.

just out of curiosity, what makes you want the SE over the ADV or the GS?

personally I ride mine 80%+ off road. that's why I bought mine compared to most of the other DS bikes out there. plus I just like something that puts permagrin on my face.

I have a 450 and the way someone told me, if you are getting bored riding the 450 off road, buy the 950, you won't be bored any more. I can't agree more. the only thing that sucks about the SE is it sucks to pick it up. But I just try hard to not drop it. lol.

You nailed it! You're exactly right on all counts.

I also have a 990R and a 500. The SE is still the one that makes me smile the most. Picking it up sucks donkey balls. But otherwise, it's just a fun fucking bike. Put one of Powercell's tanks on it and a Squadron headlight and you're good to go!

SEs suck. So tall most people have trouble getting on them. You can get maybe 100-120 miles before you get nervous about gas. They'll foolishly go almost anywhere a little bike will go. They make a rider act like a hooligan because it's not possible to ride civilized on them. SEs suck.

I bought a second one to make sure I would always know how much they suck.

I've had a BMW GSA and an Adventure....the Super Enduro will put a smile across your face bigger than any other bike.

For me that's what it's about, sure there are alot of other bikes that are way more practical, but screw that...lets have some fun ! ! !

That's a dumb question that doesn't diverse an answer.

I have a 990 Adventure, and a 950SE. The bikes have a different purpose for me. Adv is my long hall bike that I can take off-road, SE is my easy DS bike. Bear in mind, I also have a 525exe and 300xcw for real offroad and Speed Triple and 955 Daytona for road only.
All bikes have their specific purpose and place in your garage, don't think too hard about it.

It'll come to us all but one day[1] you'll be lying on your death bed. Hopefully your kids and grand kids will pop in to say "hi Gramps". You regale them of stories of this bike you once owned. It was 6 foot high, the saddle added a level 11 to the Mohs hardness scale, with the akros fitted it spat, banged and shouted on the over run, it went and took you to places it had no right to go, it got you into way too much trouble, it was orange, it was before the health and saftey brigade banned it on the basis humans shouldn't have that much fun, you can't quite remember what you traded in to get it, or what you got after it as they were "just bikes", it had no ABS, ESA, TC, or anything else, for ABS you had four fingers and a brain, for traction control you had a wrist and a huge grin. Every time you opened the garage or swung a leg over, you were excited and a little frightened. Kids and grand kids I love you, but I'm ready to go now.

It not about what it can do, it's about how it makes you feel.

It is quite possible I have had too much coffee today.

cheers

Markie

A small screen and a Safari tank and some luggage and they make a superb RTW bike and 25 kg lighter than the adventure.

We love ours, great machine and seriously versatile .... not to mention silly fun where required.

Im west of the Baltic Sea, not really east of Kattegatt. But my SE now on 2nd motor has almost 120000 kms and 7 years and is out of comparison with any other bike. I just thought about a new 1190 R but after a test ride...NO WAY...I'll keep my beloved SE...maintain-maintain-maintain...next motor is the 1190, until I cant ride due to high age...75 or 80?? Right now Im putting on 17" SM wheels and a 320 mm front disc so I can switch easily and fast between dirt and asphalt.
