Beautiful bike, I'm surprised nobody mentioned the great Ariel Square Four behind and to the left of it.

I've seen Nimbus's (Nimbi?) in Denmark several times when I visited Copenhagen. Many of them were outfitted as a commercial vehicle with a large shelf wagen instead of the front wheel for carrying or delivering goods in the city.

Always wondered how they managed to keep dirt out of the oil with the open valve springs and how a basically strap metal frame held up.

But cool old bikes just the same, with a unique exhaust note.

I want one now, and I'd never even heard of them 10 minutes ago.

Well- or even solo, for that matter.
The Nimbus frames were built from purpose-made super strong flat steel. Nimbus bikes were built by a company (Fisker & Nielsen) whose main product line was vacuum cleaners (Nilfisk). Nimbus bikes were used bu the Danish army (which did not really participate in WWII as Denmark was occupied in a matter of hours in April 1940), police and postal service from the 30's until the 60's. Production ended around 1960. There are quite a few still on the road here in Denmark. Most parts are still available NOS, reproduced or improved.

Anyone there?

No posts for nearly 4 years? Any Nimbus owners out there? I've just bought one from Denmark.

Here are some images I took a few years ago. I rode my BSA to a marine gear swap meet in my town and saw this. The guy used to own an old BSA so we talked shop and then offered to start it up. It was really cool to see the valves moving! I took the photos with a cell phone that had some filter enabled, thus the slightly funky colors.

I saw them and their bikes a couple of years ago, they wound up in Brooklyn, and were hosted at Bar Matchless in Williamsburg. Gave a little show of their trip to that point.

Who wouldn't love to roll on a Nimbus. The look really grows on you.

Nimbus engine in video

We captured some up-close video of a Nimbus firing up at Mid-Ohio; very cool. You can see the footage at the beginning of this vid:

Got one this week.

After working on the owner for twenty years with respect and patience, I was able to obtain a military model C this week. It is complete and runs, if a bit roughly. The cosmetics are fair to poor but I am thrilled to have finally obtained
the machine that has taken so long to bring into the herd.
Good possibility these pics won't come through.

Yeah, Eddie, I'm at a campground in South Carolina with a crappy internet connection so no pics until I get a good hook up.

Danish entrepeneur Claus Clausen wants to redeign the Nimbus C model and bring it up to saftey and enviromental standards of today and begin production in 2015.

Now I have to decide, wait for trhe Nimbus , or wait for the Motus.... hmmm, I guess I'll just ride what I have.

I fell in love with these vintage machines on a vacation to Denmark last year.

Had the opportunity to spend a day at Egeskov Castle, which has a motorcycle museum: http://www.egeskov.dk/en/motorcycle-museum

Probably 200/300 motorcycles, more than a handful of the Nimbus bikes.

I will post up some from my album later this week
