Hi all,

I'm actually based in NZ currently, but am planning to move back to Singapore... I was born in Singapore and came here in 1999. See my profile on an NZ biker site here: http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php?u=6084

So... one of my top concerns was riding in Singapore... What are some websites where I can find bikes for sale? What gear do people wear in the heat?!? I have leathers here, but can't imagine wearing those in Singapore!

Cheers!

Hi,
Welcome to the S'pore thread.
Websites related to motorcycle in S'pore:

http://www.singaporebikes.com/ --- General website for all kind of motorcycling (track days, touring, meet ups, etc)

http://main.slackriders.com/index.php --- Very specific to dirt trail/motocross/motard..

As for riding gear, it all depends on how much you value your life.
Most riders here tend to value their lives less, so they wear slippers, a pair of shorts, t-shirts and ill fitting helmets as the minimum riding gear. Very suitable for a hot climate like mostly what you would see in third world countries.
But there are some educated riders who would wear a good fitting helmet, gloves, a decent pair of boots that covers the ankle bones, a pair denim pants and jacket as the minimum riding gear.

Life is more precious than smelling badly (simple solution is to carry around a small bottle of body deodorant)..

So you make your choice...

Haha... yup... thanks Sankar... We're very big on ATGATT here as well... All The Gear All The Time... but it's easier when the weather makes you WANT to wear a thick jacket as well...

Yup, have registered on www.singaporebikes.com as well...

Cheers!

Glad you would be joining us soon, Bend-It. I wear my mesh jacket most of the time with protections at all the right places. Leather is a little too hot unless I am going to the tracks or on tour.

and Yes, I advocate always dressing for the fall!

Hi bikermice, thanks for sharing your pict. Nice bike. Seems like you have been touring quite a bit too.

SG boy but living in Canada at the moment
Just plonking my fat ass here to live vicariously through you guys. Miss the old stomping grounds sometime.

On another note, anyone knows if there are bikes to rent in SG these days?
I'll probably be heading back for some R&R next year and was thinking of doing a ride to Msia just to relive the old days

Sat morning til evening should be good for me... we can ride to Ayer Hitam via NSH.. then to Mersing through some twisty backroads.. if we are lucky we might see wild elephants at Kahang early in the morning... then ride through the coastal road to lanjut then to Yong Peng via Segamat.. and back home via NSH

Hi blackie

Which part of Canada are you at? Do you ride in canada? Joined the ADV folks there?

Don't think there are bikes for rental here. Those that I know of are usually done on a personal basis only. I may be wrong. Will let you know if I hear of any. Thanks for joining us.

Hi Sankar73

Sounds like your usual road. I like that.

Unfortunately, Saturdays are bad for me. Sundays or weekdays may be better. Wished I can join you folks. Have a great ride.

I shall be out riding a little this Friday evening after 10pm. Feel free to join me for a short ride and have coffee too.

It is a short, half a day's ride kinda route with enough twisty roads to keep most entertained ... there are much more better roads if we head further north but these are usually overnight kinda rides....

Hi Sankar73 and Xomaman

Weather was a little wet today. Did you boys still managed to go on the ride?
