WOW! 32gig SD Card ( ZUMO ? )

Just was at Wal-Mart and saw a 32gig SD card ( $51.99). That would hold alot of music in my ZUMO. I currently run a 8gig SD card and have about 850 songs on it. I have found that I had to create 10 folders on the card and divide the music among them in order for the music to load in the ZUMO. If I just dumped all that music on the SD card without dividing it up it just stalls trying to load it.

I am tempted to try the 32gig SD card and this time create some 40 folders and to spread music evenly between. That would hold almost all of my music collection. WOW ! !
WONDER IF THE ZUMO COULD HANDLE IT ? ? ?

Don't the Zumos only recognize something like 1000 songs, regardless of the size of the card?

......and you can only put 2 supplemental maps on it at a time as well, no matter how big the card is.

Well, that would be handy if all your songs were Ana Goda Devita, Telegraph Road & Cashmir.

Otherwise, that's a stupid limitation.

IIRC, my TomTom will handle any card size and number of songs, but will only write system & map files to the first 8gig...which really isn't a problem.

I do believe that is "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" but I agree it's a stupid limitation and even more stupid than a 1000 mp3 file limitation. In my experience if you load a lot of map files (Garmin Topo in my case) it also reduces the number of song files you can load. For that reason I think the total number of user files of any kind is limited to 1000 or maybe slightly more. Any more files will cause the Zumo to hang on boot up. I ran into this when I tried to use 8 GB SDHC cards to load topo maps for a 6000 mile trip along with 1000 mp3 files. Because of this limitation it is unlikely a card larger than 4 GB would ever be needed unless the size of the files being stored were exceptionally large.

Hmm, buy a GPS and expect great audio playback from it....

I'd rather have a device that does one thing and does it right than something that does everything but doesn't do anything well at all. The GPS is a good GPS, no? That's what it was built to be.... the fact that it plays music at all is just icing on the cake.
