So, Mav... is this your first TD5? Did you ever own the 200Tdi or 300Tdi models?

What's your take on the rig right now? Are you happy with it's power output? What does it get for fuel economy? How's she motor down the road? Nice and true... or like a old farmers friend?

Used to love ours in the army. Had the 110 with an isuzu 4BD1 motor in it 4 cyl diesel. Not fast but bloody hell they would pull through anything. Even better when our spanners managed to lay their hands on a 4BD1T (turbo out of the 6wd perentie landrover).

That's a sweet Landy! As well as the engine tuning, I'm assuming it must have had a bunch of suspension work to allow it to corner like that... right?

This is my first Landy so I don't really have a frame of reference and I ride a bike for my daily miles. The last car I drove any distance was an old Merc auto. That being said, I have done around 300 miles so far.

It's taken a little while to get used to the gearing to pull away smoothly and with any pace, but it turns out to be surprisingly do-able. Mine hasn't been chipped yet - so she runs fine around 65 on the motorway and is quiet enough for a comfortable conversation. It's plenty fast enough on country roads but isn't overtaking much but tractors. I understand a stage 1 upgrade to the ECU is very muh worth doing... I have a few other things to spend money on first (waxoyling, guards, breather/snorkel, and a decent roofrack).

As for fuel consumption - I haven't used a complete tank yet. But it looks like she might be good for 400 miles on a tank which seems pretty good to me.

I'm a very happy chap Oh, and Mavette has named her Mandy (the Landy)

Anyone who does not want a Bowler should just hand in their mancard right away.

The last Landy I was driving was a SWB TDi County model like this (but a few years younger):

It belonged to a friend, he lent it to me for a week or so when I needed a schlapper.

I don't know if that model has upgraded suspension over the standard, but I was whipping through the Essex country lanes in it, at one point overtaking a very surprised looking BMW 3 series round a long left hander!

The suspension handled it fantastically, the turbo gave it enough kick to welly it out of bends and it felt fully planted at all times.

I've know him for over 12 years now... interesting cat to say the least.

Not many people credit Cooper for all the efforts he's made in the Land Rover world. Thing is... he's made so many... it's hard to keep track. Yep, this was a cool rig for sure... Timm's got a real knack for such things.

Nice! This makes me think on my first Rover. That old ratty '62 IIA I purchased for next to nothing... my wife took one look at it, actually she heard it coming from all the way down the street first, and said, "It looks like a garbage can!" It really was a POS... but... IT WAS MY POS!

That's beautiful ... but I'll bet that you'll need to establish that you have a trust fund just to get a brochure.
