This cover is made of the same material as the softtop. It's to protect the dash from dirt and water (when driving topless). As you can see, it still provides access to the central multifunction lighting switch and the stowing compartment.

Rear storage for Disco...

As can be seen, preparing to head off again to Morocco on Saturday....
I made this rear storage area to enable me to set up camp without any climbing up onto the rack. Inside there's

2xthree man throw up tents to each side of the 60cms deep compartment (in 14mm plywood)
Three ring gas cooker
pans/mini kettle and gas bottle etc
picnic table(with 4 small chairs in framework)
2x double air mattresses
3xcamp chairs
tool box with some spares,ie,fuel filter,air filter,wheel bearing,seals,thermostat UJoint,swivel grease,fuel lift pump etc
various lunch boxes with all that's needed for a few meals and some with everyday small camp stuff,eg,washing line, electric mattress pump etc.
small daily cool box
upper area to include day sack
rack across from each alpine light to include 5x sleeping bags and space for coats

Case socket set in behind rear seats along with water pump

Most important piece of kit...

I wondered actually if it was a cover for when you hose the interior out. As I say, never seen one of those before. It didn't come stock with the British Army rovers....that's for sure.

May be not with the standard LR 90 and 110. But It is a commonly used accessory with the LR "WOlf" / TUL / TUM Defenders (XD for civ. use).

There are also other acessories like rear / front doortop covers and rolldown windscreen covers. Also called snow blinds. Another one would be the fume curtain and the internal insulation for the mil. PVC Softtop.

In the pictures you can also see the reinforced rear Rover axle of the TUM (Truck Utility Medium). The civilian version with the same 300tdi engine had the Salisbury axle at this time.

On the TUMs, they also used a much stronger, reinforced frame. Mix between RR and 110 frame.

I miss mine ... would like a 110 sometime. The 90 was fun in the rocks, though ...

I don't have a Land Rover addiction problem - I've never owned more than six at a time.....

This picture from a couple of years ago doesn't include the disassembled Series IIA 88" truck in the basement.

I've managed to thin the herd down to only three currently.

Don't drop the Land. A Rover is a completely different type of boat anchor.
