I guess technically it's a Land Rover, it's a 1994 Range Rover Classic LWB. In Brooklands Green,

I would love to find one around here that doesn't require an additional $10,000 in work.

my dad's series III. I think it's a 77 or 78 model. lot's of fun on the rough backroads in costa rica, but just a bit sluggish on the highways

Here in NM you can get a cherry one with a new motor in it for around 6~8 grand...and that's with a new motor in it.

Just to let you know, since I now know after getting one. The Classic LWB and SWB are very reliable, and most of the electronics are actually Hatichi with a LUCAS sticker over the hitachi factory one! Plus, by the 90s or I should say in the 90s they were being put together very well with quality parts unlike a little older vintage ones and a little newer ones. So, the 1990s ones are actually known to be pretty darn reliable. You do need to fix little things as they come up though, it seems to keep the car way more reliable than if you let it go.

But the LWB has 1st Gen air suspension which sucks. You're better off (from a reliability standpoint) of finding one that has been converted to coils. Get ready for window switches to blitz, too (on <94s).

Also, from 89 to 95, LR used the Borg-Warner t-cases instead of the LT230 like came in the Discovery and D90. The BW case is weak. So, if you find one that's been converted over to the LT230, you're better off.

And, though not a 'mechanical' reliability issue, better go ahead and buy a spare rear hatch. They're notorious for rusting out.

All that said, the 1995 Classics are still my favorite ...

Still loving mine - although since it's been chip'd, you sure do notice the limitations of the road handling a lot more

Thanks chap

I have a really sneaky suspicion that my job is gonna need me to move to NYC in the next year or so... which would mean leaving the Landy behind Although given how they little they depreciate, I think I would just look for somewhere to leave it and come back and play occasionally
