Hi, long time no hear:

Doing a burn off on the property. The Defender is a 94/95 I'm getting old can't recall The land is very steep and i spend 90 percent of the time on low range, about 500K now the heater is not the best anymore and going into 3rd its not happy. Besides that it runs great,

My Land Rover story in pictures:

F you crappy vinyl coated "adventure" accessories

F you fuel pumps that can get so loaded up with mud and silt that the connections rust away and my fuel line literally becomes a mass of packed sand where a steel line used to be

F you roof with random holes that causes my headliner to become a solid sheet of mold

F you both right side doors that don't open any more cause you have shitty linkages. I give up trying to get you to work, no passengers for me

F you horrible wiring that some dude in Africa made and then wrapped in tape, also F you fuel pump that someone drilled holes through the floor to install.

F you crumbling exhaust system that fills the interior with exhaust even though it is full of holes too

F you rusty fuel lines, rusty filter and bracket that crumbled when I went to change you.

F you all 4 wheelwells that are rusted so much I can stuck my hand through you.

F you lugnuts that have stainless caps on top of uncoated steel so when moisture gets inside you all you do is rust and swell so I can't get you off or tighten you all the way down. God help me if I get a flat

F you wiring harness that caught fire while I was driving you to work. Who the hell designs a system with a 12v accessory outlet then doesn't even fuse it?

F you battery box that is so shot it won't even hold a battery any more.

F you entire 4.0 V8 that cost me more to get running well than the whole damn truck cost.

F you random body rust that started creeping through only a few weeks after I had you repainted.

God I hate land rovers so much.

No really I do love them, but I want them all to die too, is that wrong?

Oh I know, they're the only 4 wheeled vehicle I've ever known, I have 4 currently and have had 6 in the last 10 years. I still hate them though. I tell people that owning my discovery is like being married to a supermodel. You put up with her bullshit because she rewards you in ways that no other can. Most days it just sucks though.

Pains me to say it, but the Bedu would be seen dead in a Land Rover.

I love Landies, but out here the Landcruiser 70 is the king of the desert:

From an Aussie site as I don't have pics from KSA

As pimped as that RR Classic looks (and I'm sure there are some useful bits of kit amongst the bling)... I'll bet it's safe to say, as you lads have pointed out in your replies, that it was completely built with brag-rights in mind.

Seeing that rig... reminded me... I was able to finesse a stock swb 1988 RR Classic, with the stock little 205 Michelin tires mind you, through this really difficult trail run that had a given a well kit'd D90 owner a workout (and yes he did know how to drive off-road). When I got to end of the run... the look on his face was priceless.

I just wished I had been smoking a pipe... and spreading my dijon mustard while doing it!

Owner is probably the type that takes one trip to England for a week and comes back with a fake accent and new vocabulary.

there's nothing like being called Matey or Guv'ner by a fat goombah wearing an A-Rod jersey.

We had a guy here in Winter Park, FL. who had a Defender back when they were imported. He put a plastic kayak up top on a side mount and drove it like that for years. It got to the point the kayak had faded on the port side where it faced up. Like a bad toupee, no one ever told him what it really looked like.
