So, after years of unrequited love, I'm in the market for a Defender. I floated the idea past Wildwoman a few weeks ago that come retirement (probably eight to ten years time), we should pack up our troubles and go see the World together. She's big into archaeology and yoga and the thought of going to Athens, Hisarlik, Perseplois, Samarkand and the like and then on down to India and beyond has won her over. We're in need of a new car and are thinking let's get the Landy so we can gradually prepare it. Not going to rush into it but this is going to be fun!

Hey there Land Rover lovers! I snapped some pics from an event we did in Mull this weekend..

This is Hugh's six wheeler conversion and Neil's Defender, both TD5's.

Fraser's 110; he's fitted that with a hydraulic winch, great pulling power.

Here he is pulling a Jeep out. This was the entrance to the hill site, it was getting pretty cut-up with all the rain.

He was struggling with his half-worn tyres.

Running repairs - his front diff had blown. (I think he was just jealous of the six-wheeler.)

A 200TDI hill racer. About 200 horses I've been told. It sounds fast.

Here it is in action.

And for any Jeep haters out there , here's my mate Alan bogged. Yes, we did get pulled out by a Landy.

And good timing - within a couple years, the Landy as we know it will be no more when the Defender replacement comes out

2 batteries in a 110

Any of you have any wisdom about installing duel batteries in a 1990 110 Td?
Looking at adding another and would like to know what others have done.

It seems that there are a stack of different ways with a range of split chargers and relays to control when which battery is being charged or being used...

I'm about to fit a second battery to my 110 - I'm thinking of just going with switch to stop using the main battery and have seperate power points for the second battery. So when you're driving (and charging) both are connected. When you stop, you switch to just the second battery. Then if it runs down due to running the blender for one too many magaritas, the Landy will still start when you switch back

Fwiw.....

I bought a 2001 Disco II SE a couple months back in absolute cherry condition with...get this...55K on her. Picks to follow, but a little maintenance (plugs, wires, rebuilt front PS) and she's now our favorite truck...a beast to be sure....If you're mechanically inclined at all, they're surely one of the best used truck deals on the market. Do they have issues? Yes. Serious? Well, yes....but they are few and quite fixable. And parts are much, much cheaper than I expected.
